After a player is drafted what he was drafted at has no barring on his value just his results that follow. This isn't a hard thing to get.

JuniorGM. If you are talking to me, I don't live in Toronto. Maybe you're right about the Jets goaltending. But Mason is iffy as an improvement and Jets have to overpay for UFAs, and Kulikov was bad last season. As I wrote, if the Jets are happy with the status quo....I don't see who they bump out of the playoffs/quote]
People get the jets played with a healthy defense core for 66 mins last year. Yea just over a game. The jets had the 2nd most man games lost to injury accounting for likely 8-10 points in the standings. Which would have put them easily in the playoffs and having more points than the leafs. Thats with the 3rd worst goal-tending in the nhl last season. Mason is a huge upgrade over Pav and Hutch and thats all the jets need to get in.
Also Rielly is even a top 5 dmen from his draft class I know its off target but it really should be said more often.</div></div>

You get the jets roster is likely stronger than the leafs if goalie play is all equal. What the hell are people smoking in the big smoke.

leafs fans won't like this but if the leafs trade for Trouba he would be their best dman. So pay up like he is. So whatever you leaf fans think Rielly is worth well Trouba is worth more because he is better and right handed.

The Dallas trade would never happen. Dallas is over cap and contracts taking on another contract they can't do right now. Plus they need cap space next summer which you don't get on LITR. Also no team pays to take on cap hit. You pay to get rid of it. I get what you were trying to do but it just can't work like you think.

That wheeler trade is straight up the worst trade I have seen on here. Wheeler is a top 3 winger in the nhl. People need to start realizing.

It's a way to get rid of Russell contract and find a right winger for McDavid. Also a first I'd say it's a good trade Faulk is good defensively and offensively ! If you were to shop drai where would you trade him to and for who? I would try to never trade him but if a offer like this came up it'd be hard to say no</div></div>
Drai could be a top 10 center. He is a 1st line player. You will get a ton.

Palhal is right even with Duchene jets have the same weaknesses. Bad special teams and if they get injuries on their blue line (they will) they have no depth to survive it.

Not sure how much as i figure thats a pretty good deal for both sides maybe red wings send a second or a pick but otherwise its kind of a robbery</div></div>
Mantha is not something the jets need. They are weakest on defense so if you are playing to trade for Trouba and the main piece is a forward prepare to over pay big time.

WPG TOR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>scarbrow21</b></div><div>
Leafs aren't getting Trouba which was part of the whole upper portion <em>"They won't get a top pairing guy because they A) can't afford the CAP hit B) Don't want to give up Marner, Nylander, or Matthews"</em>
You don't get a top 10 D in the league without giving up one of those guys which they won't. I understand Myers isn't as attractive which is why he's bumped to our third pairing and his health issues are why a conditional 1st is attached to the deal.
WPG also isn't taking Horton's deal because though they can afford to take a hit with Lupal this year, much like TOR in 2 years they won't be able to take that hit and will have to move it with a good young prospect just to get rid of it to be able to sign Laine.
The reason they do this, is because it adds even more depth and puts them in contention for the CUP NOW while they're young studs are on ELCs. JVR makes them arguably #1 upfront, with a D-Core that's still excellent so yeh, I think they'd do this all day</div></div>
Their Dcore is good not even close to excellent and you just made it much thinner. Winnipeg will have injuries to their defense likely a few. Get the depth there not up front where they have lots of talent. Do jets fans not see how injured Enstrom was last season? What about Kulikov (back injury one of the most recurring injuries in hockey). Also Buff is 260lbs and getting older he will start missing some games and Nogier is one of the worst 6th dmen in the league he is an ahl level dmen. Fix the problems the jets have (defense depth) don't make it worse. By all means add depth upfornt once the dcore depth issue gets fixed because that is the big issue. Even keeping myers jets need another nhl dmen.

There is a reason why most very smart hockey guys say to not draft goalies inside the first 3 rounds. They are Voodoo and are very very hard to predicted development. No team is giving a junior goalie that kind of value. Goalie are just to unpredictable. Case in point in the last 20 years there has been 2 true number 1 goalies out of the CHL goalie of the year winners. And its a stretch to call Ward a true number 1 but I will for this. Price is really the only game changer.

Right, the Leafs would like Staal because of his defensiveness. Jordan Staal is a 1st line center on a terrible team. On each playoff team this season, excluding perhaps Montreal and maybe Nashville, Jordan Staal would be a third line center. He's not paid like a third line center, but his game is very much in the form of what a third line center is generally asked to do. Maybe his value maxes out as a 2nd line center, but between his contract AAV and term, he is considerably overpriced for what you are getting.</div></div>

He is being paid top center dollars on a long term deal for what a third line center should be doing, so yes, in some ways, it relieves the Canes of a bad contract, not to say Jordan Staal is a bad player. Nazem Kadri on the other hand is being paid #2 center dollars on a long term deal and producing, specifically with goals, what is expected of a #1 center, plus he has improved his defensive game, matches up quite well, too. Canes could certainly make use of the cap space relief this deal would provide, not to mention their long term outlook of resigning a whole bunch of their upcoming RFAs over the next couple of seasons. I believe the deal works for both teams. If you felt the deal needed to include, say Kasperi Kapanen going to the Canes, as well, I'd be possibly open to that, if the Canes included a reasonable draft pick.</div></div>
Like I said Staal is the 3rd best defensive center in the league and is in no way a 3rd line center.
