Habs obviously pass, zero need for Timmins. No need to trade Savard for anything but draft picks, especially with retention. Drop Timmins, add a first, Habs consider.

On a team like this, no specific need to trade Evans or anyone for just a 5th, at least not now, even if that player is just an injury insurance

Habs won't since they have more than enough cap space for him (over 800 million according to this capfriendly team) if Chicago declines.

Fair return for Petry but without retention. This roster has plenty of cap space as it is

A lower pick than a 4th would be fine too, not sure about the cap implications for the Canucks however. DeSmith traded to any team for some draft pick not exceeding a 4th

Montreal Canadiens signed Jesse Ylönen (1 Year / $775,000 AAV)
The last RFA to sign, and for league minimum. He has enough raw tools to be a decent NHLer but hasn't played consistently enough to solidify his spot. This will be an important year for him to show that he can put it all together.

I don't know if hes get a wife and kids or whatever but he might be pacified playing in sunny southern California for the winter while knowing he will likely be dealt to a contender at the TDL

Hoff mania

Hoffman has to cooperate and actually score semi-consistently for a change, but sure. The other alternative is most Habs forwards are injured by November, and Hoffman is by default a top 6 guy along with Suzuki and some AHL callups until the end of the year ...

Offseason Trade
Hoffman has (almost) no value. With 50% retention he could be dealt to a contender at the 2024 TDL, but the return will be minimal, like a long-shot prospect that needs a change of scenery, or a very late pick. Better than nothing mind you.

Hoffman on waivers
I don,t care about Hoffman except that he has been a relatively healthy body the last 2 years where many others have fallen. His value has been playing regular shifts while still helping us get two top-5 picks. I suspect he will play that role again this year

Well its a move not sure it makes it better
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swinny</b></div><div>I agree.
Question is does Francis bite on this?</div></div>
Seattle had their nice playoff run, and I imagine that Francis appreciates what a vet like Brodie could bring. For a new franchise though, they are very light on young defensemen though, Brodie would be another 30+ defender and might be seen as a bit redundant with Dumoulin and Schultz. If Seattle was tanking for certain, they make this deal so they can flip Brodie with retention, but if they feel they can be a regular playoff team in the next few years, maybe they decline and hold onto a player they feel will fit their window like Borgen

If Hoffman couldn't be traded separately, he could be bought out without too much cap implications, especially if you can get rid of Mantha's conract at the same time. Reports are habs might buy out Hoffman if they can't trade him.

Devs are gonna sign him to a multi year deal; he’s very important to our team</div></div>
I am a Habs fan and think Devils should keep him, especially in a cap friendly scenario like this where the Devils have lots of cap space and have amassed a lot of picks and prospects over recent years, I don,t know what an extra 3rd would get them

Even though Armia and Hoffman are overpaid for what they bring, there is no urgency to spend assets to move them out. They can keep the benches warm until their contracts expire. Great cap management.

Yikes, Drouin might do a bit better outside of Montreal pressure, but no team should be paying him that. Waaaayyyy too risky ... talented, but oft-injured, poor defensively and questionable work ethic. Sharks might be a good landing spot for him and if he can be more consistant in his effort in a new environment it might work out, but give him 2 years at 1.5 million or something
