Yup. You could probably get Dubois for a first and a prospect.

Jets may as well keep the guy who fills a depth role now (at league minimum) instead of a pick which isn't likely produce an NHL player. If the Jets are out of the playoff race near the TDL, then I could see it happening, but not now.

What happened to Milano? Was his play terrible, did he have an attitude issue or was it a little bit from column A and a little bit from column B?

Second pairing might be a stretch goal for Kovacevic. You'd be better off to have him play 3rd pair to start off.

That is probably a good role for Kovacevic, 6/7 defenseman.

Lambert just got sent down to the Moose. I guess "released" to the Moose instead of "assigned" to the Moose was used because he hasn't signed an ELC yet. Glad it wasn't the WHL.

Agreed. The door will open, as someone in the top 6 is bound to miss games this season. Lambert just needs to make sure he is the next man up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NoVaSpartan</b></div><div>Could they waive Toninato instead and bring him back up once Lambert's 9 games are done? I can't see many teams having interest in Toninato, as opposed to Harkins.</div></div>
My comment was more a reflection on Cheveldayoff's risk aversion more than anything else. I think Toninato has actually had a better camp than Harkins so if they lost Harkins it wouldn't be a big deal. Both have low cap hits so they might be attractive for another team needing cheap depth due to injury.
Edit: I guess he could send down Barron and spin the story of Barron just coming back from a training camp injury to save face.

I don't think the Jets would be willing to put Harkins on waivers just to get 9 games from Lambert. Maybe Lambert would be an injury call up.

Opening night
<strong>Forwards</strong>: I have the same names but I'd flip Maenalanen and Toninato, as Bowness has been running a 4th line of Maenalanen-Gustafsson-Gagner for about a week now in practice (according to Scott Billeck). I agree that Toninato has had a better camp than Harkins and beats him out for a starting role. Barron would be nice, but missing so much camp and being waivers exempt means that the Moose is his likely landing spot for now (like you have him).
<strong>Defense</strong>: I agree that the choice is between Heinola (better player) and Samberg (better roster fit), with the loser going to the Moose which is what you have.
<strong>Scratches</strong>: Stanley, Kovacevic, Harkins
<strong>Cuts - waivers exempt</strong>: Lambert, Barron, Heinola or Samberg
<strong>Cuts - waivers</strong>:Capobianco, Berdin

Timo Trade at Deadline
If the Jets are battling for a wildcard spot, they should not trade their 1st round pick. Being that low suggests that a re-tool or re-build is right around the corner and they will need that pick.

I’d imagine jets flip pld to a contender looking to load up for 2 playoff runs if their season goes downhill.
Although apparently Sean reynolds has an interesting 1on1 interview with PLD coming out in which PLD talks about potential long term relationship with the jets. Probably all just posturing though.</div></div>
I think people have moved from PLD to Montreal ACGMs and on to Jason Robertson to their favourite team.

predicting opening night roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bnormie46</b></div><div>I could see harkins clearing waivers</div></div>
I wouldn't mind the Jets choosing Mäenalanen over Harkins and taking their chances with waivers. Harkins' ceiling seems like the 4th line so if he is picked up, there would be guys on the Moose who could fill that role (Reichel, Stenlund, Eyssimont) in the event of an injury on the Jets.

waiver zone
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Do wonder which one or two of Kovacevic, Stanley, Heinola and Samberg will get demoted.
If we were just basing the #6/7 dman spot on the preseason games the argument could be made Capobianco should make the team, he looked pretty good out there.
Do you know how many dmen the Moose have on an AHL contract?
Where is Salmonsson playing this year?</div></div>
Unless there is a trade to move a LHD, I think Chevy sends one of Heinola or Samberg will be sent to the Moose to start the season to minimize waivers exposure of others and then one of Kovacevic/Capobianco. That said, the kids both deserve to be on the NHL roster based on play.
The Moose have 12 defensemen on their training camp roster, with 3 of them on PTOs.
I don't see Salmonsson on the Moose training camp roster (<a href="https://moosehockey.com/training-camp-roster-2022/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Moose Roster</a>). Scott Billeck wrote that Salomonsson signed a contract to play in Sweden for the coming season (he didn't go to the young stars camp either). I guess his ELC had a European Assignment clause.

I think Barron (waivers exempt) will get sent down as he has missed quite a bit of training camp and Maenalanen probably takes that spot on the 3rd line.

In the Bryan Little trade, the main piece in the move (other than Little) was center prospect Nathan Smith going to ARI. The 4th going to WPG was just a bit of ballast.
