Nuclear option

The chance of us getting a 100 pt player with either of those picks is pretty unlikely. The trade would immediately put Detroit into playoff contention without giving up a roster player and Marner fits the timeline perfectly/has years left on his contract.</div></div>
But this was posted by a Pittsburgh fan and I really don't think Leafs fans will be as understanding.

Ppl really be sleeping on Ras. Kids starting to turn it around and can be a Tage Thompson Lite. 20-25 goals with 50-55pts in a season. He is big, intimidates opposing players, goes in front of the net both 5v5 and pp and is a **** disturber.

I don't know how I feel about that Detroit trade. I hate the idea is trading that first but I like Ehlers. Not a bad trade, that package likely gets Debrincat too and I'm not sure who I would want more.

Oesterle can play both sides and he's a good veteran, if he comes back as a 7-8 defenseman, it's ok. But Lindtröm & Hägg should not be on this team anymore.

Vrana just played his first game in a long time - Nothing special and nothing bad to say either. Did only get around 11-minutes icetime.
Lindtröm has been really bad this year and I have no faith in him :tearsofjoy. Both Oesterle and Hägg are really versatile players and one of them must be on the 3rd pair. I would expect a trade to happen.

Chances are, Detroit is extending him. He's been a very good fit here.</div></div>
That's just greedy. I like Sundqvist too, but at the end he is a fringe 3rd liner. Wings traded Namestnikov for a 2024 4th rounder. Does Sundqvist has that much more value?

TRADE DEADLINE RED WINGS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tonyhzs</b></div><div>Lots to unpack.
Sunny stays. He has fit perfectly up and down the lineup. This is the player that makes Erne redundant, though I fear you may be right about Yzerman and Erne.
Maata is not being carried per the OP. Hronek and Maata are just perfect pair. Kinda like Kronwall and Stuart just gelling.
Ned is stoll better than Helberg.
Suter has been good of late. He gets traded only if everyone is healthy. Don't forget Fabbri. If everyone is healthy, you need some moves. Veleno and Berggren will go to Grand Rapids, but there is still a logjam in the bottom 6.</div></div>
Berggren cannot go to GR, that would send a terrible message about earning spots. Veleno shouldn't either, though his play has been hit and miss. To me, they have to move Suter, as he is in an expiring deal and not likely in the longterm plans.

I don't see how you can keep Berggren out with the way he's played. Have to figure out a trade to open a spot for him once they're fully healthy.

What would Zadina cost
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>North_Kariya</b></div><div>good take, but also I can't understand all the Zadina hate. He is an offensive player that plays on one of the worst offensive teams in the league and he frequently gets played in bottom 6 with other guys that don't produce much offense. He may not put up the points, but he's not a liability on the ice and he sometimes has flashes of brilliance. Honestly looks like his biggest issue is just finding space in the o-zone when he doesn't have the puck. My biggest fear is that he just gets dumped for some low picks, goes to a team like toronto where he gets put on a line with Tavares and Nylander and puts up 30+ goals.</div></div>
I don't think Yzerman does that without getting a good return at the least. Perhaps you should be worried if he gets traded in a swap and the new guy doesn't do any good. Something like Zadina for Puljujarvi, although I think Puljujarvi could maybe do better elsewhere even though he can't do anything with McDavid.
The hate has to do with the hype that was around him and he hasn't done anything. I just think that he was started too early, on a weak Detroit team. You're totally right though, not even Larkin is anywhere near point per game career-wise. So I think people just had unrealistic expectations for Zadina.

Maybe but what's a 3rd going to do for Detroit now? They already have a deep prospect pools and will probably accumulate more picks moving ufas.
This is a situation where they are better off letting him bust. If a team wants to overpay like this mock trade, then so be it.

I want to see what we look like at the deadline and what a potential trade offer might look like first, but I would have zero issue with extending him. He has been a fantastic steadying presence and has made Hronek look like what we all hoped he could be and then some.

Well Ottawa and Colombus both improved more than Detroit this offseason and that was before we lost 2 top 6 forwards. That's htf I know that!</div></div>
I'm from Europe so the fan culture is different here. But cheering for a rivalry team to make the playoffs instead of your own team should not be a thing anywhere. Especially when only 4-7 games have been played.
Jackets have started poorly +Laine is out from Columbus as well.

Veleno of course.
Just a gut feeling that Simon has made the team. Lalonde said he won't play tonight and that they've already made their decision. He had a pretty strong outing last night in Detroit.

Edvinsson and Veleno spend time in GR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>North_Kariya</b></div><div>Just finished watching leafs game as well. Edvinsson looked good in the tournament, but not amazing. He made his share of mistakes, getting caught up on rushes, bad breakout passes, giveaways while quarterbacking the pp. He also made some really phenomenal plays. But ultimately I don't think there is enough consistency in his game to be NHL ready.
Also, IMO Soderblom was the best player for the wings. Dude has silky smooth hands and is good all over the ice. I'd be surprised if we don't see him in training camp fighting for a roster spot.</div></div>
I don't know when he wanted to do something he did it. Maybe he looked a little reserved at times but he was playing his game Datsyuk was the same way. You piss off Datsyuk he'd take the puck skate through the entire team and score but that wasn't his game. That's not a perfect analogy but its thats best I can explain it.
With Soderblom I think he will fight for a spot but I'm not sure he gets it but I also didn't think Raymond would make the team out of camp last year.
Plus with the forwards Detroit has it's a much harder path for Soderblom and then when look at the LHDs Detroit has Edvinsson does have a much easier path.

It doesn't look like it. We're going to go with Rasmussen at 4C or Veleno. I prefer Ras on the wing. He can use his size more and he has good hands. Gagner had an excellent season i thought. He can do so many things and he provided some good leadership for the young guys. But we have so many forwards now that I can't see a spot for him here. He'd be a good, cheap signing for any team.
