Sabres love Jokiharju and wouldn't part with him. Tanev would be a great add, maybe Lindgren and and protected 1st could work. Doubtful Sabres move a 1st for a potential rental.

While Turcotte was take 6th OA and Krebs was taken 17th Turcotte has only seven more AHL points than Krebs has NHL pts.
Preseason is not a perfect indication of regular season performance.

chiclets proposal
I think that neither team would accept because both teams are pretty happy with where they are now. Buffalo would probably decline faster because whereas Zegras looks to be All-Star material and Drysdale could eventually be, Dahlin is a franchise player and a cut above an "ordinary, run-of-the-mill" All-Star.

I don’t see it with Puli to be honest. Adams would never. He would be a guy I would bring in. But I don’t see KA doing that.

Our 3rd pair- no matter who is on it- just isn’t gonna get played those kinds of minutes, or in those important situations though
So I’m not looking for them to be balanced
Dahlin’s pair is gonna get 25+ min,
and the 3rd pair will get under 15min depending on how well Power & his partner gel
So i say, strengthen the top pair as much as possible

I personally don't think Hanifin is a good fit. Not that he's not a good player, but his defense isn't IMO what we need. Plus we are pretty Strong down the Left side anyway. Rather Keep Krebs and use that 1st on say Pesce.

The Leafs are finding out they cannot win with only two top lines, Boston will still be good but not 135 pts good, Tampa lost Killorn and Colton while finishing only 7 pts ahead of Buffalo, and Florida may suffer from playoff fatigue.
Yezerman made great aquisitions, Ottawa underperformed last year so there will be a changing of the guard soon.
My big bold prediction 100 pts and easily make the playoffs.

It makes no sense for Buffalo. We arent parting with Savoie, you make him sound expendable which he isnt, especially not for scrap parts. Veleno is not good, the biggest thing of his career so far was stomping on a player in the WC and rightfully getting suspended. We have tons of better centre prospects and players to play 3C. And Savoie is a far better skater than Veleno btw and no slouch defensively, so if we needed what you describe we would again just keep Savoie

Canes Take a Dramatic Pivot
I would do that, I think pesce has buffalo on his ntc, and he may have already said no. But honestly, I think we would be better with him. That would likely bump Clifton to third pair with Erik Johnson and either stillman or Lyubushkin. Of course it would have to come with some kind of extension.

Sabres are VERY unlikely to trade Krebs
Mgmt here loves him- he was a “must have” piece in the Eichel trade & he’s been developing into a nice 2way forward for us
If we were to trade for Pesce- & that’s a big IF- we wouldn’t wanna move an important player like Krebs off our roster
It would be strengthening 1 roster spot to weaken another,
& we’re trying to win this year

3- why would we want Stanley? Already have a bunch of 3rd pair quality guys

Hellebuyck were willing to sign a 3year extension, i think we’d already have traded for him
I also think that he just isn’t willing to sign an extension that short

They are one of the few teams that can afford the extension Hellebuyck is looking for as well. You get him a year early for 50% retained and Dillon who is a great fit for their backend.

THE problem is that Hellebuyck will want a 7year extension,
and i just don’t think the Sabres will even consider that
They’d probably wanna do something like 3 years
It’s (imo) so far off, that I’d be surprised if an extension is agreed upon- and thus, a tough trade to actually pull off

Reilly Smith 2024 third
Ross Colton 2023 second
Tyler Toffoli Yegor Sharangovich and 2023 3rd
Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula
