time to trade
Klingberg gives me MASSIVE buyer-beware energy. Also the Jets haven't convinced me they're legit, so parting with not one but two B+ prospects and a 2nd for a rental is a bad use of assets.
Let someone else overpay for klingberg

Winnipeg doesn't do that Vancouver trade, LA doesn't do that trade.
Ottawa trade is good though, reasonable value and decent player to target.

Both would be smart buy-low bids for some scoring. Would prefer Johnsson to Kapanen due to an expiring contract, but I like the idea.

Olofsson + Jokiharju for DeMelo + ???</div></div>
Again, I value Demelo's on-ice value a lot higher than I think his trade value is. I'd trade Schmidt, Dillon or Pionk before I traded Demelo, just because we don't have any other players who are as good at shutting down the game as him. I don't really want Jokiharu at all tbh, I'd rather just slot Heinola in, so if it was straight up for Olofsson I'd listen a little more. But who knows what a NHL GM values anyway these days...

Hard to say how actual GM's value things, but if I'm Chevy I hang up right away. Olofsson is an empty-calorie scorer in my eyes, don't know much about Fitzgerald, but just barely cracking the NHL at 25 doesn't really excite me too much. Demelo is a strong defender on a good value contract, and Chibrikov in my eyes has middle-six upside (although he's struggled this season).
Edit: I like Olofsson, and wouldn't be opposed to adding him. Just not for Demelo AND a B prospect

Not sure how good Kemp is, but I honestly don't mind that too much for the Jets. They likely don't do that in reality, the org values Pionk really highly, but having the extra first to flip for a forward would be interesting.

Cup Contenders
Thats just too much for the Jets. As a rental its too much, and if Severson is extended, the Jets will have waaaay too much money tied up in their blue line. The Jets should be trading a defenseman for a forward, Heinola on an ELC is more valuable than another defenseman with big money, even if the defenseman is good like Severson.

Midseason
I think the Jets just give up too much here. It really only works if Severson signs an extension, and even then I'm still too high on Heinola to trade him <em>with</em> a roster defenseman. I'd hesitate quite a bit on that. I like the player a lot, just not for that package.

Trade the short term cap dump who is putting up points, the mid-term cap dump who's playing well, a top prospect, and a 1st rounder in exchange for... a long term anchor contract and an downgrade on defence??? What kind of logic is this lol

He has 6 points in 13 games. He is not worth a 1st round pick in any way, even if youre swapping out a 4th.
3rd rounder maybe, but he'll have to keep this point pace until the deadline.

According to ESPN Fitzy is actively seeking a hockey trade
Dillon has been quite good this season, but I wouldnt mind trading him for a forward. I dont know the Devils forward situation well enough to know who would go the other way, but I think the Jets would prefer someone with a bit of skill who can move around the lineup. Re-couping the 2 draft picks they paid for him and then using that on a forward would also be a possibility. Chevy likes to sit on his hands though so I wouldn't anticipate anything

I like these a lot. Gus Nyquist could be a potential buy-low middle-six depth guy, MacEwan for Harkins is a good energy move.

I think Jets would like the player, although they have the cap-space that they don't rly need the retention, so if not retaining takes the 5th off I think they would do that.

This is a pretty good trade value-wise for the Jets, I still don't understand why everyone thinks Montreal will trade for him though, he'll either get traded to a contender and sign long-term there, or he'll sign in Montreal as a UFA. (Or of course, he signs in Winnipeg, crazier things have happened).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Nah. Zucker is pretty meh. Paid at least double what he is worth, misses at least half the season or more consistently. Definitely not worth moving a first for. A player of his quality can easily be had for an AHL'er or a mid round pick, or even on waivers. He's just not a difference maker to good or bad teams.</div></div>
But the salary doesnt matter because it says it's being retained right there + he would be a rental. Also, he is absolutely a good player. His metrics are good and he's solid defensively. He'd be a perfect fit on Lowry's wing and could move up the lineup in case of injury. He doesn't score as you would hope, but players who control play are what we need. He's probably not worth a first straight-up, but he'd instantly become the 5th/6th best forward on the Jets. I understand not liking the cost of acquiring him here, but the player is the right kind of player for the Jets.

Idk man. Honestly, the thing the Jets are missing the most right now are versatile middle-six wingers. A 1st rounder might be a steep cost, but Zucker is a def a rental the Jets should consider targeting. Especially if retained.
Although saying that I would prefer they try and trade a defenceman for a forward instead of a pick

Would def like Zucker on the Jets. I'd be wary of giving of a 1st for anyone though just because strong draft class + I'm not sure if we're really legit yet. If it were a decent prospect and a 2nd I would be a lot more receptive. I could probably be talked into it though with top-15 protection.

blue line upgrade
That small amount of retention would scare me a little, not because of the money but because then we would lose a contract retention slot. Regardless of value (Robertson as a prospect confuses me) I like the overall move from the Jets perspective, get a potential middle-six winger and a depth d-man to put in the pressbox, and let Heinola and Samberg play.
Seems like an unlikely move though, Dubas seems to love Holl and probably values Robertson higher than this.
