<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>We should get a very good return for Tanev given the demand for him and especially if we retain up to 50% on him; this here certainly isn’t it though

Still need to bring something in to help Huberdeau, and although I’d prefer Duclair, I thought Beauvillier 50% retained might be worth a shot

Say Beau 50% retained + Raty/3rd/? FOR RFA Dube?

I also wonder if Garland 30%/$1.45mil retained = $3.5mil/yr might not be bad in exchange for Dube either, since he’s a Right Shot and Brings a Ton of Energy and Even Strength Scoring ability. Dube’s probably gonna want a raise anyways and hasn’t broken out like I had expected

Thoughts!?</div></div>

Demand may not be as high as Flames fans think right now, only way they maximize is holding on until the deadline and finding a bidding war which is a dangerous game because they could be left with no suitors by that time. If the Flames can get a 1st in a deal for him they should take it, I think a team closer to picking between 15 - 25 would be on the table before they take the Leafs pick.

No need to pay to bring in a piece other than maybe Duclair this off season as a UFA to play with Huberdeau, get to January and see if Pelletier is close to coming back and strap him to Huberdeau like their lives depend on it.

Dube isn't pulling anything of significance in a trade, he's interchangeable in any line up in the league and people can find his production at a lower cost all over the place.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>squashmaple</b></div><div>If his contract was even a million less, they'd probably have more options. I agree Calgary's best option is to hang on and try to make the best of it and try to build around him. I've seen multiple Huberdeau-for-Gaudreau and that just got me thinking. Maybe not for Johnny, who'd never approve a trade back west, but I'm not opposed at all to bringing in Huberdeau in a vacuum.

Four million in retention is definitely too much for sure. I just picked the number randomly. But you've got to think there might be a number they'd willing to retain in order to get out of the contract, especially with Kadri's equally immovable one on the books and the likelihood they retain Lindholm.</div></div>

I don't think the Flames would want Gaudreau back, I personally just want his crazy uncle back in town, love that guy!

Kadri is a really simple buyout later in the deal and right now has been the best Flames in the last handful of games, even when people were down on him early this season he was still leading the team in a ton of advanced metrics and expected goals, it seems like he's found a really good connection with a rookie and they've taken off. I think there's a pretty low chance Calgary retains on Lindholm, he's not helping himself whatsoever in a contract year, if his ask is still anywhere over $8.5 Calgary should run the other way, I think that he's played himself into a spot where he's going to want more than he's worth Calgary won't offer that and he can go test the market to see of he can get that similar to what Kadri did, no one is going to get near $9 and he will settle somewhere else other than Calgary.
