I’m not sure what your point of this was, but it means nothing to the BOG. Please do not try to run your own tests for a GM and lead him to believe that this is his “application”. It’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. You are not apart of the BOG, and you are not anywhere near involved with the decisions that we make. I rarely agree with Nate, but he’s absolutely right. This test is giving away what he thinks about all his players.

Because you aren’t the only applicant. The BOG has a list of AGMs being considered for full-time GM. For future reference, these are the BOG members: @TheCommissioner @Icegirl @BoltsPoint21 @flamesfan419 @krakowitz I highly recommend next time, you talk to one of us instead of someone who means nothing in this process.

~11:00am(PST): NJD makes a big trade that changes the outcome of the franchise

~7:45pm(PST): NJD gm steps down

Granted I don't have all the information I just dont see how a GM ks allowed to make a trade knowing full well they're going to soon step down.

I believed the same situation occurred with Colorado but all parties involved at the time were under the belief the Colorados AGM was to take over the team.

If you signed him in FA then that is correct, he may not be moved until Jan 1, 2019.

That is correct.
However we have been discussing moving up the date to allow signed UFAs to be moved sooner.
Once we have a final decision we will let everyone know.

Okay, i had to START high with my Boychuk price. Now the price is a 2nd and a 5th, and we'll retain half.

I hate to be the one to share bad news, but I really don't know how you're going to get anyone to give you 2 draft picks, one of them being a 2nd rd pick for Boychuk.
He will turn 35 mid season and be 38 when his current contract expires at a cap hit of $6M
No team is going to tie up 6M in cap space on a guy who is declining in production, yet accelerating in age.

Have you considered just buying him out and saving yourself $5M in cap this year??
Sure the buyout lasts for many future years, but what do you can, this game will be over long before that happens and we'll be on to a new version.
So you win now with extra money in the bank.

Just sharing my thoughts, not telling you what to do.

Yeah, i know, he's a bottom pairing d-man now, but there's a buyout window before the expansion draft next year, isn't there? And even if there isn't, we don't have to move him RIGHT NOW. The price may drop, but he doesn't need to be moved right now. It could be an in-season deal.

Dude, you could save $5,250,000 if you buy him out right now. That's almost relief of his entire contract for this season alone!!!!!!!

No one is giving you a 2nd rd pick for the guy. Maybe, and it's a big maybe someone would give you just the 5th you asked for, bit normally trying to move a player like Boychuck means you have to pay the other team an incentive to take him. Retaining even half is not enough incentive for anyone....I don't feel.

Not sure how the hint of "sabotage" even enters this.
Consider it more of a bit of advice. I think at least 30 other GMs would agree that IF anyone actually paid a 2nd rd pick for the player offered, the deal would be killed instantly.
So I presented options. He's free to do what he wants.

Boychuk may have value at 50% retained if he doesn't cost much and if the team can protect him and their other d-men in the expansion draft.

Think you have to wait until the expansion draft. If we could buyout now, Russell and Boychuk would be some hot commodities
