A lot of teams are deep down the middle. Pittsburg , Crosby , Malkin, Brassard and Shehan, St. Louis, O’Rielly, Schenn, Bozak, Edmonton , Mcdavid, Drai, RNH, Brodziak, Ducks, Getzlaf, Kesler, Henrique, Gibbons, Sharks, Couture , Hertl, Thornton, Tierney,

NHL teams have no reason to complain about good Center depth.

Kadri is making about 5.7% against the cap. When the cap was down around 56 mill that translates to 3.2 mill. It really isn't that unreasonable. The problem they have is that their fans appear to want to pay 4 players nearly half of the Cap and think they can still afford to pay everyone else on the roster. After those 4 players the other 19 would have to avg less than 2.5 mil each. Sure you can do it but the depth will eventually suffer when their young bottom 6 players start asking for reasonable deals in the 3-5 mill range.

ya dump a 30 goal scorer who is underpaid, at a position that we have no suitable 3c replacements without subtracting from Matthews wing

Another fellow that signifies players # 1 and # 2 etc. Isn't that just so meaningless? Hard to believe that the he can't see the value in a player that scores 30 goals a year. Is the centre for 27 goals scorer. Do most # 3 centres (I'll use the meaningless numbering system) have such high production? Probably not. Look how Kadri is utilized on the ice and maybe the phony # 3 designation can be discontinued.

And want is the logic behind trading Kadri just to sign Nylander to an inflated contract? Seem like folks think the Leafs are going to be the only team in NHL history that can't sign their players coming off ELCs for cap reasons.

Probably a bad idea to trade away your best contract on a cap tight team.

Im a sens fan so i dont really know, but i feel like Kadri is more important than Nylander to the leafs. You need grindy players to win, and if they can score 30 then even better. Plus its better to have good center depth.

I suggest that you construct a Leaf 2019/20 roster with an you will see how possible to for the Leafs to sign all their ELC and RFAs. Now you mentioned Gardiner....he's a UFA and he's both unaffordable and probably unwanted by the Leafs. And please don't count Horton. Like all teams the Leaf will get full cap relief for a player on cap relief.

So, you've kinda proven you don't know the Leafs roster and also you don't know the rules of LTIR.

I look at a little differently. JVR got 7m, Bozak 5m and Komarov 3m in free agency. That's 15m. Leafs signed Tavares for 11m and have Johnson and Kapanan this year as full wingers for under 1 each....so 13m. So look at as a trade....JVR, Bozak and Komarov. for Tavares, Johnson and Kapanen. Think Leaf fans will take that.

It’s actually a little over 36m and we are not signing half of the players you have listed.

The leafs are just fine but we do appreciate everyone’s concern...

Toronto is sitting pretty with kadri. He is a very good 2 way player and can handle a ton of tough assignments keeping tavares and Matthew's in prime situations. They would be crazy to give him away

We will know more after we see what Nylander signs for. Just note, guys like Friedman think Matthew's is getting mcdavid money. Alot up in the air, but I wouldn't be too nervous

Not a Leafs fan but it would;d be stupid to trade Kadri, he's an underpaid player. One of the better contracts in the league for his worth especially as it looks like he's the Leafs version of a shutdown C with Matthews/Tavares being the Offensive guys.

Give me a choice between Nylander and Kadri and I take Kadri every day (but I believe the Leafs keep both).

What a great problem to have, hey!? Cap friendly hit for a now 3LC who should still be very productive. To be honest, Nylander might get a fantastic return if he were the one parted with.

To be honest if they are going to even think of trading kadri thats a next offseason issue and even then it would be if linholm plays as good as kadri with the trade helping bring in a a durable shutdown dman. But unless a team gives up a solid 3C and shutdown dman it's not worth doing this season.
