I dont like this Pittsburgh deal from an Anaheim perspective. And the Boston trade wont be anything special unless Boston doesn't make the conference finals

From the pens perspective they easily do this deal if they cant land kreider, toffoli, or Saad.

What would the Ducks want from Carolina for Kase?

Not a fan of that PIT deal at all, Moving Kase should only be done if we can add a good young RD.

BOS deal is solid and I probably pull the trigger on that

Yeah, if it's a thing, it's gotta be done ASAP, so that Anaheim can retain on Galchenyuk and see if they can get anything for him.

Is there someone that the Ducks can add to get Addison or Marino?

Justin Faulk tears of joy

Maybe something centered around Priskie, Suzuki or Kuokkanen?

I assure you the bruins would have no interest in this. Kase is an okay player, but I doubt Sweeney would view him as the slam dunk second line winger he’s been seeking. Sweeney may like Kase for secondary scoring, but not at that price tag.

Blues will give ya Sanford and a 1st or Sanford, Barbashev, and a 2nd. Would much rather go after a guy like Kase that has a manageable contract next year and beyond vs splurging for Kreider like LeBrun seems to think is gonna happen lol.

Cool, just going off of some other Bruins threads.

My view of it is:

Backes+2nd to get rid of the contract, and Andersson (2nd)+5th to get Kase. The value of the 2 x 2nd's is the 1st.

I'm also happy to keep Kase if there's no RD options available.

I'm into the Sandford+Barbashev+2nd.

I'm assuming Barbashev is probably a guy that could produce more if he moved up the lineup a bit?

Depends on who you ask tbh. I used to think so, and he had a few chances with injuries/shake-ups etc. But at this point, I think he is a bottom six guy that brings the energy and can play a pretty safe game. He's not a volume shooter but he can pick corners when he does get some space. He's one of those guys that broadcasters will rave about his defense when in all honesty, he's probably a below-average defender that has just earned the trust of the coaches to play in those situations. I think he's settled as a 4C/3LW. If ANA wanted him in the deal, I'd be fine with it. De La Rose has been very (boring but) solid on the 4th line and MacEachern has earned his spot there too. I like Barby but I think we could manage without him.

I think the bruins like Andersson a bit much for that. How would you feel about the prospect taht Lebrun suggested, steen. So, Backes, Steen, 1st, and 5th, for Kase.

If all Kase is seen as in Boston is depth, then yeah, keeping Andersson makes sense, but it probably makes more sense for the Ducks to keep Kase over that deal.

I'd offer BUF 2020 2nd (probably ends up being around 38 or 39th overall) + Marcus Davidsson/similar mid-level prospect for Kase

I’m not saying he’s depth exactly. More that he isn’t the sure fire top six winger they’re after. What he is, is likely better than the options they have. Bjork has probably looked better in the last couple weeks than Kase, but at the same time, Kase has a much bigger sample size of scoring. I think what Kase would represent is a guy with a similar floor to the guys taht they have now, but with a higher ceiling, and the added, “change of scenery,” value.

I would be happy with any late-first-round pick. This draft is inordinately heavy in RhD's with great potential and there are four likely to go somewhere between 20 and 45: Braden Schneider, Justin Barron, Helge Grans and Topi Niemola. Getting a second crack at them (in addition to our second-rounder, which should be no worse than #38) would be fantastic; I'd love it if we could select two of the four.

Old thread, and zero gloating.

Curious as to your thoughts on the trade now? You had me close to convinced that it was a serious overpay by the Bruins.

I personally think it was a solid deal for both teams. Bruins clear up cap space and get a high upside winger that, if they can somehow keep him healthy, could offer that secondary scoring they’ve been searching for, and the Ducks add a good pick and prospect, and are able to buy out Backes in the summer.

I was surprised by the retention from the Bruins TBH.

At the end of the day, the key here is “Kase needs to stay healthy”.

Woah! I didn’t see a fifth round pick! You weren’t even close! Kidding of course. You nailed it man. Gloat away. I would. No sarcasm whatsoever, kudos. You hit this one out of the park, and that’s incredibly rare on this site. Well done.

No, no gloating, I’m actually curious as to your thoughts. I’m sad to see Kase go TBH.

Something tells me that when he hooks up with DeBrusk, you guys are going to crush it. It hurts my little soul to think about how good the Bruins are right now hahaha
