Well firstly it’s way to early to tell - TDL/ injuries/ team play will change things for either team.

On paper Montreal is just the more stacked team OVERALL. They’ve made an insane amount of changes to their team, and Price is their game changer.

But.

If price is injured/ struggles in 1-2 playoff games that’s a lose-able series. The leafs have 1-5 game changers on a given night.

Once again I’d say Montreal for now, but I think we’re too quick to count out the leafs cause lol well it’s the leafs. If the team can finally play as a team this year and come together as a unit they can win any series. Brodie was a major upgrade and they got some rookies coming in for hopefully a full time role (then obviously they have Matthews followed by Tavares/Marner/Nylander/Rielly who as a core all possess the ability to be a game changer/ are game changers if they chose to step up).

Montreal for now but Toronto is a tough draw if they put it together finally.

Leafs should win. Too much scoring up front. Then again they’re the leafs so they could choke

Just like you were supposed to win the cup last year and the year before? Oh, and the Habs were 3-0 against the Leafs last season

I think Montreal is the better constructed team. 4 lines that can score goals and 3 defensive pairings that can play defense. If Price is Price, it's easily Montreal.

I think the Leafs would walk all over the Habs similar to how the Flyers did last season. People may think that Montreal is "built for playoffs" but they're really not. They were awful last season. Got bailed out by Price far too often. They're biggest issue is centre depth and Toronto's would bulldoze right through Montreal's. Matthews, Tavares, Thornton, Spezza, Kerfoot >>> Danault, Suzuki (1st year at centre), Kotkaniemi, and whoever else. LEafs have proven before to have no issues scoring on Price since the Matthews era began. Plus Toronto has revamped their defence to be mobile and shutdown worthy (wouldn't be shocked to see it be a top 10 defence this year)

Leafs in 5, maybe 6 if Price can steal an extra game.

After the Habs shutdown the Leafs top two lines, the Leafs have their bottom 6 filled with 4th liners and press box watchers

I still think the Leafs will win the division though, but they will be lucky to see game 5 let alone game 6 of the first round. You don't win with Vesey, Mikheyev, and Nylander on your team.

Not gonna lie. Perry was a great pick up. It would be a tough series. But ultimately I think the scoring prowess of Toronto pulls through.

If thats the standard, then the habs are built entirely out of 4th liners and press box watchers.
And lol at the habs shutting down the leafs top 6. They never have and never will

Montreal outplayed Philadelphia so I agree it would be the same scenario. Sorry, but adding T.J Brodie while losing who they lost doesn't make the Leafs defense any better. The Leafs IMO got worse this offseason.

It’s hockey. There’s no, “this team will win.” Its a flukey sport and a goalie getting hot can change everything.

That said, toronto certainly should win that series. Habs made a couple nice adds, but they had a worse winning percentage than buffalo last year. Theres no reason to think they’ll be good.

Here are the Leafs additions:
Simmonds (washed and a losing player)
Thornton (washed and a losing player)
Vesey (Sabres reject)
Bogosian (Stanley Cup champion)
Brodie (good)
Lehtonen (bust)

Habs additions:
Toffoli (Stanley Cup champion)
Allen (Stanley Cup champion)
Edmundson (Stanley Cup champion)
Anderson (Playoff performer - lesser version of Tom Wilson)
Perry (Stanley Cup champion and Stanley Cup finalist)

depends how they shape their bottom 6, but Montreal's is terrible.

Leafs could easily have:
Robertson - Kerfoot - Mikheyev
Vesey - Spezza/Thornton - Simmonds

Against Montreal:
Drouin - Kotkaniemi - Armia
Byron - Poehling - Lehkonen

Leafs 4th line walks all over Montreal's, and 3rd line would be a good, fair battle. & Leafs top 6 would dominate Montreal. SO I don't see how your comment is relevant at all
