If he has another good year and there is some interest around the league, I don’t think a 1st rounder for Iafallo is out of the question.

I have no disagreement with that statement but wanted to see if something else might work? Something around Compher plus or Kaut would be ideas.

If it doesn't work it doesn't work but looking to get an idea of what LA could be interested (aside from a first).

I don't think the Kings will move Iafallo. I fully expect him to sign a 2-3 year extension after the trade deadline. The Kings don't have any other NHL ready top-six LWs in the system to take his place.

Kings unlikely to move Iafallo, but if they can't get anywhere with a contract for him by the deadline replace Compher with a second and this isn't too far off. Beaucage is a player I could see the Kings having a high interest in.

Well, they could try to address that in FA. If someone offers them a 1st and a decent prospect, that could get their attention. They're in rebuild mode so gaining more assets, especially good ones, could outweigh the desire to keep someone like Iaffalo.

Fair enough. I can see why they would want to keep him. A second would have to be in 2023. If we had an earlier one I would do it. Good color though. Appreciate it.

If Iafallo hasn't re-signed at the deadline, I'd move him for a 1st. Honestly if he can keep up being a 45 point player in the relatively weak team of LA, his value is up there.

If there is a bidding war coming for the guy, some team is almost certain to offer a 1st round pick for the guy. I don't find this return unreasonable at all.

It's also dependent on what you're looking for. In your lineup you have him listed as your 3C. Iafallo is not a center, despite CapFriendly listing that as a position of his. He's purely played wing for his entire NHL career.

I think that we'd only want picks or expansion-draft-exempt prospects, not someone like Compher or Jost. Beaucage or Kaut and Drew Hellesen has a lot of appeal.

I do know he is LW now but was (I guess mistakenly) under the impression that he has played some C in the the past. I'll defer to you on that one though and consider myself set straight.

It may be a deal breaker if I'm trying to fit a square peg in a round hole here.

I think he's exclusively a top-6 LW. If you don't re-sign Saad, any chance Burakovsky moves to RW?

I believe he played some center in college, and he's taken a couple of faceoffs when Kopitar has been kicked out. But other than that, no, he's never been a regular center in the NHL.

I'm not so sure a player without term and likely to get a raise is in colorados best interest this TDL.
I'd like to stay away form moving the first as well. Since we're already down a 2nd and a 4th in a draft that could be super unpredictable, even a late first could be a solid player.

Thanks. I think it's really a high end 3C that the Avs are probably after. Personally I think Jost is on his way to taking that spot and just want some cheaper depth for insurance, but I know others disagree.

Burakovsky is already RW most of the time (for some reason Capfriendly always has him on the left, but he's better on his off wing).

This trade just came up in another site and figured I'd do some info gathering here.

I'm with you on this. I prefer to keep the first and go with a cheaper rental as insurance.

Avs can't take on another middle 6 forward wthout moving one out. We have at least one too many as it is. If we could move Donskoi and/or Compher though Iafallo would be a good target to play 3LW with Nichuskin at 3RW (or Donskoi/Compher at 3RW and Nichuskin at 4LW).

RW is Burakovsky's preferred position. He loves to cut inside and let off his wicked wrister.

I'd do this trade even if Avs don't resign Iafallo, just to move Compher's contract. That isn't to say that he's a cap dump but we just have too many 3 RW's on significant caphits so something has to give. Compher and Donskoi first of all, but then also guys like Kaut and O'Connor could play that role. Nichuskin can also play on the right. Need to make some room for a 3C and the younger guys.

Yeah I would also probably do Compher + Beaucage. The only concern is that it leaves the team short at C. I value guys that are capable of playing multiple positions pretty highly and JT is one on them. Long term I prefer an expiring deal to his term though, so that's not an issue.

Looking at our prospect pool I'd hazard a guess that Beaucage is one of the most tradeable prospects. He's doing really well in the Q and is likely attracting plenty of attention from scouts. However his skating will likely never be good enough for how the Avs want to play, so I could see him being used in a trade if a GM prefers a prospect over a pick.
