Don’t hate the Hertl deal, I think Khovanov and Menell is a tad much but a 2nd and a prospect is a good price for a year rental. Fits the timeline too.

I think it is as well, but I think Rask needed to be in the deal to make the money work and the extra prospect is basically compensating for taking him even though he’d have 1 year left at a lower cap hit than Hertl.

There is probably a very low chance that Winnipeg moves Samberg and Dumba isn't the type of defenseman Winnipeg needs.

I look at it as, do you want the assets or not? Rask needs to move to make money work and SJS actually saves real dollars in this way while maintaining a roster player. I’m not interested in overpaying to force a short term solution. Just my opinion on it but your logic is sound.

Pre expansion it’s either trade dumba for something or lose him, or one of Greenway Ek, Fiala or Foligno (least likley) for nothing. I know I had included Perfetti in the trade then I would get reply’s of “are you kidding me” “way off” etc.

To me Hertl is a good idea for the Wild. I doubt he comes this cheap though. I realize it's only a 1 year deal but he is a legit top 6 center who doesn't break the bank at the moment. I think a lot of teams, given the current economic situation, will be in on him if he were available.
That said I don't think your offer is way off just needs more IMO.

Minnesota doesn't do jets deal at all. Even if Carson soucy is taken, calen Addison is talking over with very good character ian Cole will come back

Also wild don't appear to want let B.Menell go. They are planning to resign him after expansion

Dumba with his resurgence this season is only getting moved for Top6c.

Wild aren't taking back any d in dumba trade

Guerin has made it clear he's only moving dumba for top 6c, or high 1st with top 6c.

So even if you think wild will lose dumba, for nothing, it's not true

Fiala & Joel Eriksson Ek are getting protected

I just dont see him landing you guys a top C. He's been better this year, but Mini would need to add if you want a legit top C. I also dont think the jets make this deal.

I agree that Samberg most likely wont be moved, but Dumba is exactly what the jets need.

I mean it's not just us asking for top 6c. It's our General manager bill Guerin. He talked about how he purposely put out there dumba was available to get value on his players from other teams

Hertl does not move without a 1st and a high-end prospect and a middle six current roster player under 30 coming back. This deal is not close.

The thing about Matt Dumba is that he is in his prime and he's at a decent cap hit.

Most importantly, Dumba still has term left, unlike Erik Karlsson when Ottawa traded him.

Obviously, Dumba is not what EK65 was in his prime but because Dumba has term left, you have to be asking for a package similar to what the Sharks gave up for EK65.

That means Winnipeg, at the very least, must include some combination of Logan Stanley, Ville Heinola + 2 seconds along with Samberg and the 1st rounder IMO.

Oh I remember Billy G saying that when he took the job. I just dont think Dumba lands mini a top C. DUmba is good, but his value isnt there

I mean even when the season started Guerin has made it clear he's not moving dumba unless he gets what he's asking for.

Me, you, or others on here aren't GM. We can't say A player like dumba, or others don't have that kind of value because we don't know what other GM's think of dumba

What is clear that other teams offered top 6 wingers, & he turned it down according to multiple reports.

Leafs wanted him,. Ask from Guerin was nylander.

For sure. What we also know is he hasnt got what he asked for. IF that Nylander rumour is true, he shouldve taken it IMO.

That isn't enough for a full season Hertl. Really it's a 2nd + cap dump (0 value at best for Rask) + a prospect in the KHL minors + a d-man that might just stay in the KHL instead of sign with a team that has EK and Burns as RD.

This offer is about the offer MN fans were hoping to get from Bonino as a TDL rental before the season started. It's less than Staal was being traded for by MN fans for the last couple of years. A 1st + Khovanov/Beckman would be the starting point for MN to give up.

It's possible leafs said no. But for sure many teams were offering top 6 wingers, & Guerin said no.

I guess I don't blame him because wild need to find room for boldy next year, & Adam Beckham in about 2-3 years

I don't agree about Dumba. He's an all offense, no defense defenseman that isn't physical, so pretty much the last thing the Jets need. Plus he's really fallen off in play since his injury.

The Jets already have a better version with Pionk and Pionk likes to play the body.

The solution to this problem is to find a team in need of a quality right-handed RD or an upgrade in that regard, especially one that is desperate in a push for the playoffs or for stanley cup contention.

Because they already have Demelo, Pionk and others playing RD, I don't think Winnipeg is the right team to be trading for Dumba.

Using that logic, GM BG should be looking at teams like Chicago, LA Kings or Pittsburgh IMO.

Pittsburgh has nothing of interest to Minnesota . Minnesota isn't helping out Pittsburgh because if having Pittsburgh 1st round pick, & 3rd round pick.

Wild aren't trading dumba to Chicago barring overpayment. Chicago is Minnesota rival especially when things return to normal

Then where do you suggest Dumba goes?

Because if "things return to normal", Winnipeg will be in the same division as Minnesota along with Chicago.

Samberg and Winnipeg's 1st is a fleecing for Dumba and it shouldn't be acceptable for the Wild, unless there is absolutely no choice at the deadline.
