I don't think Jets fans have been watching closely enough, Ehlers and Scheifele are the only guys who can really create any offense on this team, subtract one of them and this team is ****ed!

Also this so called great forward depth has more 3rd liners then true top 6 talent.

I was preaching this exact thing when Laine was traded. Dubois is a total bust. It's effort is never consistent and his defensive lapses cost the team too much. They should've got a lot more for Laine from many other teams that were in talks with them

This losing streak might be a blessing in disguise in a sense.

You're now likely getting the Leafs instead of Oilers against you in the first round. The probability of a major choke is much higher with this opponent lol.

As @missthewhalers said, only schiefele and ehlers can actually drive offence on this team. Taking laine off this team/adding dubios midseason proved to be a bad move for everyone involved. It took off a serious threat who could actually create some offence (yes he could). Now we are stuck with dubios who hasn’t quite adjusted yet, wheeler who is clearly aging and can only have 1 elite game every little while at this point, stastny who is really smart, but not much of a finisher or dynamic player, and Connor who struggles without a fair amount of support.

I’m guilty of thinking the jets offence just never was running at full potential but now I see that their potential is only 1 scoring line in the top 6 and another that’s just meh. They just don’t have the play drivers.

That said, JoMo was very good tonight. Good to see. Pionk took a little more risks and I liked it, he just got burned because he was a little sloppy but I don’t expect that from him if he continues to build on that. Poolman surprisingly keeps getting better. I really liked the Stanley-poolman pair and the JoMo-pionk pair. Forbort needs rest and demelo was once again...meh.

This team has depth, but lacks certain players that will get them anywhere in the playoffs unless JoMo, pionk, hellebuyck, wheeler, scheifele, ehelrs, and Lowry all play very well in the playoffs.

Im not impressed with Dubois rn but Laine was so damn overrated, he's only good when you have all-star playmakers that dedicate their lives to the guy.

Laine would have 20+ goals right now if he was still a Jet.

Jets fans, do you think you have a better chance at being the Oilers or Leafs in the first round?

I think the Oilers even though the Oilers have owned the Jets this season, that said I really think the Jets will be quickly disposed of in the first round by whoever they play.

I like Torts, he's entertaining but I think he's run his course in Columbus, will be best for the Jackets to move on from him.

Leafs imo. This team needs the opposing team’s d-structure to fail every once in a while and Toronto’s defence does that, while tippets system in EDM doesn’t. Toronto isn’t a grittier team than Winnipeg tbh (at least not by much). Also, Toronto is prone to epic collapses. Finally, Toronto’s goaltending is still a bit of a question mark, while somehow mike smith is playing the best hockey of his career. And then you have mcdavid. The jets can handle the oilers 5 v 5, but they will lose the special teams battle. With Toronto, it’s much closer.

Honestly, I just have accepted their fate this season. The only players I actually enjoy watching are Pionk, Dubois, Stanley, Ehlers, Lowry, Poolman, vesalainen, Copp, Morrissey and Scheifele.

I just enjoy the players who are fun to watch. Just enjoying the end of the season. Hopefully Chevy actually does something this summer. Maybe a new coach too. Snag gallant if he’s still available, or brindy if CAR can’t agree on an extension.

I agree. If the Leafs can't get good goaltending in the playoffs and Helle goes off, Jets can beat the Leafs

Wonder if Chevy does anything or just let's 'nature take its course' and have some of the young D prospects graduate to fill the holes, aside from the draft, whatever happens with the expansion draft and the usual signings of two or three cheap depth players he might not do much else which is a typical summer for Chevy.

I think chevy is going to have a little fire going under his seat this off-season, so we actually might see some activity.

Wouldn’t be surprised though if he just did the bare minimum.

Doubt it, he was pretty consistent last season, actually was pretty consistent for the Jets every season except 18-19.
I'd take 20+ goals over the meh that Dudois provides.

Edit: yes the bottom quadrant CBJ player is Laine.

Father time is undefeated. Wheeler's overall percentile rank (per Evolving Hockey):
08-09: 60th percentile (22 yrs old, BOS)
09-10: 73th
10-11: 71th (ATL/BOS)
11-12: 77th (25 yrs old, WPG)
12-13: 79th
13-14: 82nd
14-15: 88th
15-16: 87th
16-17: 91st (30 yrs old)
17-18: 69th
18-19: 36th
19-20: 72nd
20-21: 1st (ouch. ranking driven by being worst NHL forward defensively and being just modestly above average offensively)

Are you high bud? .. oh wait, just a clear bias fan. Dubois consistently takes shifts off and when he's in his defensive end there's very little effort. If that's what you look for in a 2C then I guess you can be happy. But there's a reason why they've lost 7 straight, his play is a big part of it

Edit; just read the last part... why would Dubois deserve slack at all? He's the one who whined and acted like a child that wasn't getting his own way to get out of Columbus. Then when he's given his wish he doesn't perform. He doesn't deserve slack at all. He's one of the most overrated players no this site.
