They aren’t gonna trade Byfield when he has yet to play a full season. They would want a young LD in part of a return for Turcotte, but doubt they trade him right now either, they want to see what their young guys can do at the NHL

Or something like that.

As @Canesfan21_ says, I just can't see us trading either one before finding out what we have. (The only reason any of us even THINK about trading Turcotte is for someone like Jacob Chychrun or Mikhael Sergachev or Zach Werenski, but those deals aren't happening.) But I could see one of our other center prospects (Kupari, Anderson-Dolan, Madden, Thomas) for K'Andre Miller or Zachary Jones being the outline for an exchange.

Byfield is flat out not gonna be available period. I doubt Turcotte would be available either at this stage, but they'd probably be asking about Miller.

LA is in a very good position. They have a huge glut of great young C talent, but it's not really like they have any need to move any of them. Even with Kopitar and Danault taking up two of three C slots in the top 9, they can easily convert guys like Turcotte or Vilardi to wingers if they don't think they will get fair value trading them.

There is no trade to be made here. We won’t send what they want and vice versa. Honestly would just be a waste of time.

I like this idea but if I'm chris Drury if miller is getting dealt it's for turcotte. Just out of curiosity what would kupari cost? I really like his game too.

I’d prefer Turcotte over Miller.
Maybe try Kupari or Kempe.

Byfield could be traded, but only if the right price comes along. If you haven’t realized, the Greatest hockey player ever got traded twice, so if Gretzky got traded, not just once but twice, Byfield could be as well. I highly doubt that the Kings would move Byfield, and rightly so. I myself really love Byfield and how good he has played before he was drafted. Kind of jealous that he would not be on the canes, but excited to see how his career will unfold.

Probably right here since there is such a premium on high ceiling C's.

But based on last year- both went into the year as highly touted prospects...Turcotte was a top ten prospect and Miller was top 40ish. Miller played the entire year in the NHL and showed he belongs- and that he has a runway in front to continue to develop in NHL. Especially with last year being a wierd developmental year- I'm not sure where Turcotte still stands right now...I'm not looking in any way to diminish his value- if anything looking for reasons to maintain is almost untouchable status with LA...if anyone has any info on his 2020 year- please give some insight.

You could say that Miller benefits a lot from NYR having a weaker LHD core than normal. There's more room for him to impress and play higher role.

LA is stacked with C prospects and centers in general, so there's not a similar room for Turcotte to prove himself in the big league.

This may be true- but with the chance Miller was afforded, he showed he is a top 4 Dman on just about any team- with a lot of growth still in front of him...so it's difficult to compare the value of these players- especially when (due to the pandemic) virtually every developmental team, league, etc. was cut short last year. Because there is little ability for an apples to apples comparison here- it's highly doubtful either team would entertain a trade involving these guys.
