Buffalo: Tkachuk wouldn't sign with the Sabres long term once he becomes and RFA. Doesn't fit their timeline
Calgary: They don't need to give up Tkachuk. A package of Zary, Monahan, another prospect, 2 firsts should do it
Vegas: Since Calgary included Tkachuk in the offer, Vegas will likely have to overpay if they want Eichel

Which could explain why CAL would include him, knowing he will need a massive contract or can walk shortly, and we've already seen how effective Tkachuk's can be negotiating with leverage.

I’ll say, if that package is indeed what the Flames are offering (and the former 1st is someone like Zary/Pelletier and not Lewis) that’s not good for Calgary. Considering the situation that’s a win for Buffalo, even if they have to flip Tkachuk since he won’t sign.
