Thats what im saying. The issue comes wit Vegas cap. Hague if he continues to play top 4 could get a deal in the 2mill range like Whitecloud. Kolesar probs under a mill but even so not a lot of room to work with. As Roy and other guys still need deals.

In general this is basically Vega's year as losing depth guys like Smith, Janmark, and McNabb could hurt how this team does in 2022-2023 even with the addition of Eichel. As depth scoring is important.

lol right. But there were like 5 players who fit exactly what they need. Ottawa has a bunch of guys like Tyler Boucher

I wonder if Seattle would entertain trading Vince dunn. He’d be a perfect fit on the isles. I’m sure Lou would give up a 1st if he’s available

Which decision was the bigger blunder?

A: Ottawa drafts Tyler Boucher at 10OA

Or

B: Edmonton doesn’t draft Jesper Wallstedt but instead trades the pick

Ottawa and it isn’t close. Borgault was a good pick.

It absolutely broke my heart when Holland galaxy-brained the Wallstedt pick but a few things make this an easy decision for me:

1. Xavier Bourgault has been really good inthe QMJHL to start the season and I think he's likely a lock for a position higher up on the Canadian U20 roster next month.

2. When I go "WHO???" during the first round of the draft, its a walkabout pick. Decades as a Oiler fan has me in tune with the draft even to this day. Even with hindsight I don't know who Tyler Boucher is.

Ottawa dropped the bag on their top pick last summer.

I agree. Obviously Wallstedt is going to be a stud but I’m not a fan of taking goalies in the first round anyways. Bourgault looks like he’ll be a good one.

This was my favorite Edmonton pick though

This was the pick Holland could have gave for the 8th year of Hyman I believe.

365 more days of Hyman was easily worth it over this lul.

This is almost pretty much my scenario. I hated the Johnston pick initially, but now I love it. He’s got a real shot at becoming what Seguin is now, in his future.

I relate to your whole 1st point, but with Johnston.

Picking Boucher, at least Bourgault was still projected to be a 1st and looks good, I have no idea why they went with Boucher over Lysell, Svechkov, Coronato, Lucius, Sillinger, etc
