Sens are giving up WAY too much in comparable upside. Poehling is a bottom six guy at best. Brannstrom is already an NHL caliber Dman who can play PP2, and he has upside as a top 4 PP1 guy.

Poehlings ceiling and long term will be higher than brannstrom. I would not make this trade if I am Montreal.

I would not make this trade. I have watched every Laval game twice this year and last year and Poehling is a lot better than most give him credit

add nothing. it is not a good trade long term. Montreal has a lot of D's coming and not much C's.

Unless Poehling is a future top 6 player , he won’t hold more value than Brannstrom. Brannstrom is likely a 2nd pairing D and the QB on the top PP

not taking anything away from Brannstrom, I am highlighting that Montreal does not have much depth a Centre. Ryan is 6'2" 205, really good on face offs, awareness in all 3 zones, good speed, above average along the walls, is the #1 Centre in Laval. as a call up tonight he will be on 4th line, which I do not agree with but long term he projects to be a 2nd or 3rd line Centre. I would not move him.

Don't even bother with Habs4Ever, he's apparently an "AHL scout" for the Canadiens' farm team and ceases to use any unbiased logic in his points. Not worth it

nope, not at all. I will put my 23 years as a coach, 7 years as a paid scout on it. I have been in hockey full time since 1992. I am NOT saying Ryan is a superstar, I am saying Montreal is so thin at Centre and they have 8 d-men on the way. I would hold onto Ryan.

what is your number I will call you and send you my credentials. I saw two games yesterday and will be watching an afternoon game at 4 PM and one more online around 8 PM. I hope your bum is feeling better. And many people use capfriendly, I have another program only for GM's, scouts and coaches. I have 6500 players in my database.

is that what I said? did I ever say I was a scout for the Canadiens farm team? I never said that. I raised my 3 sons to speak the truth. You should as well.

I can read perfect French but I left Quebec in 1986, so my writing is not that great. I can also still speak it.

He apparently also counsels hockey players who are sex offenders too.

And is friends with Sheldon Keefe.

A real peach

In all honesty here I agree with @Habs4ever.

Even if Poehling is just a bottom 6 C... MTL's C depth is really lacking right now and I just don't see Branstrom bringing anything special to the MTL organization. Everyone on here is talking like Branstrom is a sure thing for a future top 4 offensive D... I don't see him as much more special than Mattias Norlinder, Jordan Harris, heck even Sami Niku. He for sure isn't better than Guhle or Romanov which MTL will already be trying to bring along.

Everyone thinks their prospects are special and that they are going to keep getting better and better, a lot of them don't. I'm not saying Poehling is better than Branstrom, but MTL has a bigger need for Poehling than Branstrom right now and Branstrom is anything but a sure thing - like Poehling, he has yet to establish himself in the NHL and being 22 years old requires waivers next season. These two were drafted over 4 years ago, usually by now you know what you have in a player.
