I just used the term in sort of, comparing Wallstedt and Cossa.

Cossa being a reliable pick whereas Wallstedt being the more, risky? Idk, I dont know why so many teams passed on him. I honestly would have been sitting awake sleepless for weeks if I was Doug Wilson Jr and told to pick at 7 between Eklund (the huge fall) and Wallstedt. Wallstedt was worth drafting at 1 for me.

Wallstedt, imo was the only Franchise level player in his draft. Everytime I watched him my gut just said; please draft this kid.

Im ecstatic that the Sharks got Eklund and I have no "regrets" in being overjoyed seeing his name on a teal jersey.

But Wallstedt is horrifyingly good and I think Minnesota won the 2020 Draft (paired with that Lambos pick, who is also a great selection). Wallstedt has been playing great in the SHL, he dummied the World Juniors twice in short showings, I mean this kid just looks sick. He can go from that calm and cool "Carey Price" type presence and that move like "Hasek" within seconds. Obviously some exaggeration in those comparisons but Wallstedt plays such a enjoyable style; hes stoic and wild with the flick of a switch which is what you want in your starter.

I just see "boom".

I think I'm on the same train of thought as you. To me the boom or bust is: boom (multi-Vezina winner potential HOF'er) or bust (rock solid starting goaltender for the next decade +). I just love this guy's play so much and can't see a world where he fizzles into nothing.

Lucas Edmonds is a 4th year eligible, not sure if he gets drafted due to the age factor

yeah that is what is probably what is going to happen, but the guy does have 54 points in 27 OHL games if I were a NHL team I would take a chance on him in the 7th round he if was still there

Man is Alex Steeves is an interesting signing

I think he will be the guy next to Ho-Sang and Anderson to make the team out of camp

I know he struggled a bit in the 2 games he played in the NHL (Leafs were being sloppy in those games so I will let it slide a bit) but I believe once he finishes the AHL season and gains more experience he will be better ready for the NHL come 2022-2023 season

Also nice to see Abramov finally settling in as man was I getting worried

Jack Quinn's on a heater, 8 points in the last 3 games. 1 of those games he had 0 points. 2 4 point nights. Moves him to second in AHL scoring begind ANDREW POTURALSKI

He definitely is eligible, it’s his 4th year of eligibility and that’s the max

Nobody ever gets 4, because then 21yos would be getting drafted. The max is 3, 2 if you're born after Sept. 15. Eligibility for the 2022 draft is being born from Jan. 1, 2002-Sept. 15, 2004.

Edmonds is still eligible due to him being in Sweden every year until this one

"To be eligible, players must be 18 years old by Sept. 15 and under 20 years old by Dec. 31 in the draft year. However, non-North American players over 20 years old are eligible."

Also to nobody ever gets 4, Janis Moser was a 4th year eligible in last year's draft and went to Arizona

Is playing in Sweden the determining factor for that exception? He was born in North Bay. I thought they actually had to be European. Also, when do they just become a UFA (like Shipachyov, Zub, Lehtonen, Mikheyev, etc.)?

Edmonds is half Canadian, Half Swedish per CF. The rule is based on which league you play in, not where you're from since the transfer agreements are with the leagues. I have no idea when they'd become UFA's and not draft-eligible players

My rough predictions for Wheeler's team prospect rankings. He does this based on U23 and non-NHL only. I'll also post some of their top prospects in brackets, completely at my own discretion and in no particular order, but it should hopefully be pretty much everyone even somewhat relevant lol
1. Buffalo Sabres (Power, Rosen, Peterka, Samuelsson, Ryan Johnson, Poltapov, Kisakov, Quinn, Portillo, UPL, Laaksonen, Krebs)
2. Minnesota Wild (Wallstedt, Rossi, Boldy, Khusnutdinov, Addison, O'Rourke, Hunt, Novak, Hunter Jones, Beckman, Peart, Lambos, Khovanov, Firstov, McBain)
3. New Jersey Devils (Holtz, Luke Hughes, Mukhamadullin, Daws, Pytlik, Chase Stillman, Okhotyuk, Graeme Clarke, Tyce Thompson, Walsh, Schmid, Bahl, Schnarr)

29. Vancouver Canucks (Klimovich, Jurmo, DiPietro, Rathbone, Woo)
30. Tampa Bay Lightning (Alnefelt, Duke, Finley, Goncalves, Schmidt, Thompson, Cajkovic, posted today, had them here when I was drafting this)
31. New York Islanders (Raty, Dufour, Bolduc, Iskhakov, Holmstrom, Lennox, already posted by him, woulda had them here with a minute's research into the age of Salo/Koivula/Bellows)
32. Seattle Kraken (Beniers, Evans, Winterton, Henman, the guys they picked in rounds 4-7 are the only other prospects they have lol, already posted by him, was obvious)

So far I’ve just had VAN/PIT swapped and BOS/WSH swapped. Pretty decent so far. I wonder what my biggest miss will be. My guess is probably one of Calgary/Edmonton/Winnipeg, I think I might overrate them a little based on really liking the top 3-5 prospects.

Thoughts on bear Hughes?

Looks like a typical 5th rounder so far. Gonna have to impress in the AHL and get 2 or 3 years of reps to earn playing time as an energy guy.
