Don't think they have the money to pull it off, and they don't really have bad contracts to move either.

I think you could

Dallas retains 50% + placeholder team retains another 50% so he costs 1.75 at the deadline

Dont know what the trade would look like but Tampa may pay a pretty penny for him

Top 6-NHL standings are #1 to #6 - East-based clubs
#7 is the first West-based club to crack the top-10 list - Vegas...

Even at $1,75M they'd need to pull of some precise cap gymnastics to make it work.

Nobody can stop Loui Eriksson’s Coyotes 😤

Also knowing Habs drafting and development, Shane Wright is probably crying rn

What's with Gorton and top-3 picks following him around. This is his third in last four years.

The amazing thing is that Arizona actually was supposed to get the better of Montreal's 2 first rounders (remember that the Habs have the Canes selection because of the KK offer sheet), unless the better one landed in the top 10-then they'd get the 2nd one, and right now Montreal somehow is doing even worse than the Coyotes

Imagine if there was no protection on the pick and the Coyotes got picks 1 and 2 😳

It's not going to happen. Lightning simply don't have the cap space, and they're not going to give up that 1st rounder. JBB's not going to go for a big fish, if he does go for anyone it'll be for a smaller lesser-known player (see previous examples: Barclay Goodrow, Blake Coleman) who hopefully winds up being a playoff beast.

And then they have to forfeit both picks because they did something stupid again

And then the Kraken get the first pick and draft someone projected in the 3rd round

Do you guys actually think Pavelski deserves to be in the HHOF? Like he has 1 2nd team all star, no individual hardware, no cups, 1 silver medal from 2 olympics, 406g 871pts in 1116gp, 1 40 goal year, best season of 41-38-79 in 82gp, zero point per game seasons. Compared to:

Alfredsson: best player in Sens franchise history, calder+all rookie team, clancy, messier, 1 2nd team all star, 1 top 5 hart finish, 444g 1157pts in 1246gp, no cups, 1 gold and 1 silver from 5 olympics, 2 40 goal years, 1 100 point season, 9 point per game seasons, best season of 43-60-103 in 77gp.

Mogilny: byng, 2 2nd team all stars, 473g 1032pts in 990gp, 2 40 goal years, 1 100 point season, best season of 76-51-127 in 77gp, 8 point per game seasons, 1 gold from 1 olympics. Only triple gold club member not in the hhof (which is WC+olympics+cup, he also has wjc gold).

Barrasso: calder+all rookie team, 1 1st and 2 2nd team all stars, 1 vezina (and 3 runner ups), 1 jennings, 2 cups, 11 20+ win seasons, best season of 43 wins in 63 games, 1 silver from 1 olympics (although i think he was the backup), 369 career wins.

Theo Fleury: 1 2nd team all star, 1 cup, 2 top 5 hart finishes, only player with over a point per game in both the regular season (1000+ gp) and playoffs (75+ gp) not in the hhof, 4 40 goal seasons, 2 100 point seasons, 455g 1088pts in 1084gp, best season of 51-53-104 in 79gp, 7 point per game seasons.

Keith Tkachuk: basically pavelski’s case for the hall but better in every way in that he never won a cup but had 5 point per game seasons, 538g 1065pts in 1201gp, best season of 50-48-98 in 76gp, 3 40 goal seasons, 2 2nd team all stars, one of only 3 guys to ever hit 500g and 2000pim.

I’m sure there are some others who have pretty solid cases (gonchar, pierre turgeon, jeremy roenick, vanbiesbrouck, cujo pop up on lists every now and then) and I just don’t think pavelski really stands out with no hardware, not super impressive production or longevity (assuming he retires at like, 41 with like 480g and 1000pts in 1400gp, which might be generous). Like that puts him below Pat Verbeek in terms of hall of fame case imo.

Yes and no.

Yes because there's a story behind the guy. The unlikely 7th round pick who turned into one of the most trustworthy players a coach can have in his roster. The guy has no clear weaknesses, is always consistent, is able to play offensively and defensively at high level, brings leadership to any roster he's part of and he's a team first guy body and soul.

Stats wise maybe not though, there's many players with better statistics that haven't been included in the HHOF.

I'd love for him to get in there, but it's not a grief injustice if he doesn't cut it.

Not going to lie, this one stings a bit

ERod shouldn’t really sting, no one could’ve predicted the Pens giving him prime ice time and doing great, McCann absolutely should though

I’d personally agree with this, the Hall of Fame should be for the best of the best and while that hasn’t exactly been the case, Pavelski should get his number retired from the Sharks but nothing else
