I would sooner see the entire city of Detroit sink into the river then this Seider trade (or any for the next 5+ years).

To get seider would take a ridiculous offer. This ain’t it.

its not just the assets its just the logic behind it. He is going to be the Franchise Dman for the Red Wings during this rebuild, they have 0 incentive to move him, they hit it big with that pick.

you draft them, teams who have those aren't moving them willingly. Getting a young top RHD is nearly impossible via trade

Well we'll sell you leddy for the playoffs, he'd fit better with a more offensive team anyways.

I truly see 2 or 3 Norris trophy wins in Seider's future, I'm not sure there's a package in this league that could convince Detroit to trade him

Which is why he doesn’t really have much trade value.

Pretty different scenarios, and i think one that other GMs likely will learn from.
Different because: Jones was 26 at the time of the trade, they got him for the years 26-35. Carlson is what, 32 with five years left? So getting ages 32-37 with signs of regression already in my opinion (defensively that is).
The lesson learned: always protect draft picks in case they’re top five.

Right now he would get my vote for the Calder Trophy (if I had one), and I'm a Trevor Zegras guy.
