Del Zotto and Ritchie are both buyout candidates in the offseason, and Del Zotto is a much easier buy out. There's no benefit to Ottawa do something just to help Toronto

Ritchie could rebound with the right situation. Ottawa likes big, strong players and DJ Smith likes rolling toughness. Del Zotto has barely played for Ottawa and both could be a decent swap of bad players

Why are we giving up so much for Mayfield?

EDIT: Thought of a funnier line; These will be Dubas' final moves if he trades a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Mayfield

I honestly don;t see how the Isles or Kraken can say no to those.

It’s an overpayment for sure but it fills a huge need for Toronto

Cause he’s pretty good and he’s got 2 years at $1.4, that’s very valuable in the dead cap era

As suggested above, Ottawa has no reason to do that trade. A massive overpay for Mayfield. Why the Leafs given aa NHL Dman and a second for fourth line winger?

Oh, I agree. And you made offers they shouldn't refuse.

Mayfield is good on trap style teams. Toronto is the exact opposite of that. He would be a trainwreck

So little upside in betting on Richie imo. He's not good, he's not been good for most of career, he just used to produce better. Best case scenario he goes from bad 4th liner to good 4th liner. Either way, rather just buy out Del Zotto and be done with it.

If the Isles move Mayfield this year and are offered a 1st you will not have to add a 2nd and 3rd.

They have a need for a massively overrated 3rd pair stay at home defenceman who is a bad fit for TO's system?
