Oh cool. Didn’t see that. Imagine he goes right into lineup, no?

If McBain does not sign, he walks as a FA. Thus, there is no price for him.

Harris is going to be in MTL or his Boston hometown.

Hugues is friend with his dad, so there's hope he'll sign in MTL and burn the first year of his contract.

Hughes also coached him at some point

You could trade his rights, allow another team to try to sign him. Been done before.

But by all accounts it sounds as if he'll sign.

Per Pronman;
"Jack McBain, C, Canada (Minnesota): McBain is a big forward with some skill who is highly competitive and great around the net, but his skating has never been his strong point. McBain is a senior at Boston College, where he’s having an excellent season. While sources I’ve talked to believe he will sign with Minnesota once this season is up, teams have been watching his situation closely this season to see if they have a chance of signing him as a free agent. A strong Olympics for McBain could stir his situation even more."

Yep, but who wanna risk taking a player who might not want to sign. I don’t see NJD doing it unless it is prearranged with McBain. Either way, I can’t see us getting more than a 5th.

I hope so. But folks are wondering about the price to get him. And my point is that he is either not going anywhere, or does not provide any return for us: all or nothing.

It was a minor development team, he coached Harris and his two sons Riley & Jack (the best Jack Hughes).

There wouldn't be much of a difference in prices, no matter where he'd sign or play. No matter where he signs it'll be as a ELC. That's not going to jump up what he's going to be paid by much if at all.

The only difference is going wherever he thinks he has the best chance to play. Depending on how he looks at the Olympics, will most likely determine that.

It might happen since the NHL season ends later than normal. The Jets would have 10 games left after the end of the Frozen Four (apparently Smith is on a good team), so they could even play him a few games with the Moose and then bring him up to the Jets.

Edit: I'm assuming there will be cap space for him once the UFAs are traded away at the TDL.

We ll see. I heard that he is not dressed for todays game. Maybe he gets a chance if Canada is already in by the last game of group stage.

Leafs will sign abruzzese, they were just letting him marinate as he missed a bunch of hockey thanks to covid and an injury (and you can't sign and play NCAA).

from the leafs either a 2nd or a 3rd and 5th
dude has a lot of upside, good on the draw and has good vision, he will make it to the show but not on this current leafs team, too much depth

Sure, like Caulfield last year. Quinn Hughes 3 years ago.
He is a sparkplug. Could bring some fire if playoff race still alive.

If he leaves NCAA, he would be free agent within 30 days. Abruzzese is different because he was drafted as 20-year old so he can walk after 2 years. Other guys listed were drafted at age 18 and have to wait the full four years before they can be college UFAs.

I could see him signing in Jersey as he is from the area and played minors here. I don’t see him getting a 2nd if he leaves Harvard and Leafs do not sign him.
