Wouldn’t touch that with a 10 foot pole if I’m TML.

Petry imo shouldn’t be on the Leafs watch list. Not a necessity for them, will be 38 by the time the deals done and just not a play style they need. Plus Topi isn’t worth giving up in that package.

Nothing against Petry just not the guys they should be looking into and I doubt they’d consider the price if it includes Topi ( I know the Leafs rumour to have Topi or NR on the block instead of a first )

It's only 3.125m if Habs retain 50%. Leafs choose to give us 1 of niemela or lilgegren. Leafs choose to give us 1 of amirov Robertson or knies. 2nd is to balance it. Holl given so Leafs still have enough cap space.

I agree, a line with O’rielly and Gallagher would have been insane though

Gallagher is pretty fast and he’s great off the rush, O’Rielly isn’t the fastest guy but it doesn’t matter because he has incredible hockey IQ.

I remember when we could have had the #2OA in 2009 draft for Luke Schenn and Burke went nah

Victor Hedman on our blue line would have been sick and picturing him rn on our blue line with Muzzin, Brodie, Rielly that would be a solid top 4.

Gally is one of the slowest hockey players I ever saw, but:

Toffoli - O'Reilly- Caufield
Lehkonen - Danault- Anderson
Byron - Kotkaniemi - Gallagher
Tatar - Evans - Perry

That would be a dominate forward group along with:
Chiarot- Weber
Edmundson- Petry
Kulak - Romanov

Price- Allen
Habs could've extended the series

Not making this trade was one of Lou’s best decisions as isles GM. This trade would have likely been great for MTL in the short term, great for BUF long term . I doubt Pacioretty would have the same success with the isles as he does with VGK. Playing with Stone in that system gave him new life

Are we talking about the same Gallagher? lol his speed was one of his biggest strengths, he was always one of the better transition wingers in the league

Almost every isles forward struggled in Trotz’s 1st season, i just don’t think Pacioretty would have close to the impact he’s having in Vegas. Trotz would have had put him on the 3rd line anyways.

No, obviously Gallagher has slowed down a bit but he was a great skater a few years ago.

Have to agree there, Petry, while a decent top 4 D, isn't on a great contract and will only decline from here, I'd be ecstatic if we get more than a 2nd

Tavares knew he was leaving the isles at the deadline, if the isles got pacioretty they wouldn’t have re-signed Eberle. Team would have looked different.
