Scheifele will stay at least one more year

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Trotz goes as NYI aren't doing that well... perfect coach for Scheifele

After they already traded for Copp? I doubt it.

So Scheifele nets a disgruntled player who’s not even in NA, an AHL DMan and the 25-32 pick and a second?
That would be quite the low sell

What would your price for Scheifele be? I completely agree this is very low. I’m thinking a package equivalent to 4 1sts.

Scheiflie is the worst defensive center based on xGA. I think this package is enough

It’s a great question. It’s been debated a lot on here.
Honestly, I’d be good with Schneider, Kakko and a 1st. But I know NYR fans don’t want to trade Schneider for anyone.

He hasn’t always been this bad though. I do think a fresh start would do him good.
For what it’s worth, I’d just like the Jets to get a new coaching staff/shuffle that before they sell low on 55. He’s still a good offensive player and if you can get more buy in from a different coaching staff then your scheifele/Dubois/Lowry centre depth can be good.

Rangers cannot afford Scheifele. And for anyone thinking Schneider is available for trade, think again.

I don't know that it would need to be 4 1sts necessarily, but there would need to be at least one piece that the Rangers don't want to lose and that Winnipeg needs. Someone like Schneider.

Personally would rather sign Copp who will be cheaper and costs nothing to acquire just cash. Plus with Mika in the mix, we just need a 3C if that isn’t Goodrow till Korczack can step into the lineup in a year or 2.

I'd add Rikard Gronborg to the coaching candidates list.

Scheifele’s contract is actually cheap enough at $6.2M and he’s one of the only players who would make Schneider available. If getting Mark Scheifele means Nils Lundkvist at 3RD, fine.

Yeah, I was also thinking Schneider would be the biggest piece in the package from New York.

While true, that’s not going to reduce his market value all the way down to the package presented in this ACGM.

I have one problem with Vincent as coach

Yes I understand he was a good coach in the AHL but that doesn’t mean he will translate to the NHL we’ve seen too many cases of coaches doing well in other leagues failing at the highest level

Schneider isn't available, period. And how do you fit in $6.2m to the Ranger cap? That means you can't sign Strome, Copp and Vetrano most likely. No thanks to Scheifele.

Yeah but they are still very good players. Scheifele is not going to net some huge massive return because he is not the same player he was a couple years ago. The biggest part of this trade would be to hopefully get a cultural reset which I believe needs to happen. If that means getting rid of Wheeler somehow as well than so be it.

I've heard Vincent is a huge Maurice worshipper, as effective as he may have been in the AHL they probably should go with someone that has no recent ties to the organization.

Really think they need a new coaching staff that'll implement different systems and philosophies, they didn't need just a new voice, they needed to do things differently. I honestly can't believe that anyone in management and ownership actually thought the systems Maurice was running was ever going to work.

I think its too soon to give up on Vesalainen, yes he's had a disappointing season but it is his rookie year, would like to see what he could do with better coaching and them try to utilize his strength which is his shot, its not like he's going to cost a lot to extend either. They also have little to no forward prospects in the system, would be pretty stupid to just give up on him already.

What happened to Samberg?

Sorry man, I know we don't agree on this but not a single dman over 6' isn't going to work.

Very much agree about a big change being needed, they need a culture change, 26 and 55 have been running things for far too long.

Dude the Rangers are only going to be able to sign one of those three names you listed this offseason. You're insane if you wouldn't trade for Scheifele because you'll lose them.

While I agree that Schneider isn't available (because I don't think Scheifele is available either), he's not untouchable. Borderline, but not 100% because of the very few exceptions -- and Scheifele is 100% one of them.
