As much as I don’t want to see Kane or Cat go this looks good to me.

Edit: if you aren’t using Tatar we could take him back for the cap and to flip him.

Don't see AZ taking that to move Vejmelka who is far superior to Blackwood and in this scenario, Johnsson is a cap dump.

Coyotes expressed interest in Johnsson this season. Vejmelka for Blackwood helps their Bedard tank, and Blackwood has higher potential in the long term.

Fine with that. Original post had 2 seconds coming back to NJ. I opted for G prospect and lesser pick instead.

Really? I've seen habs fans on here thrilled about Zacha for a 3rd. Didn't think a late 2nd would be much difference, considering you get another young C who's good in the face-off dot.

There's a difference between a 2nd and a 3rd, especially to a team that has 3 3rds already. Montreal also doesn't need McLeod. As it is, Montreal has to be careful about where it spends its money. Zacha for a 3rd is a logical gamble, Zacha and McLeod for a 2nd isn't worth it.

Holtz, Mukhamadullin , Slafkovsky/Jiricek and a 2023 1st to build around? U sure?

Love both guys, but NJD shouldn't pay for 1-year of Kane. He ought to go to contender.
Also, shouldn't pay for Kane retention (that alone probably costs late 1st or 2nd).

If you go rebuild, you need to get rid of Kane, retention helps with cap floor, then you get equivalent of five 1st round picks for DeBrincat. It's sounds fair, without knowing those prospects.

That package, especially at retaining half of Kane's salary, gets Kane alone. Lol

Yeah it’s essentially 5 first round picks. And if the 1sts are unprotected…oh man… Hawks would have 2 chances at Bedard.

Zacha for a 3rd is fine
McLeod is really good in tbe face-pff dot like you said, why not just keep him over Stepan ? But MTL already have Suzuki Dvorak Evans Poehling down the middle

Stepan is also good in the dot but way better offensively, has played on great teams and has playoff experience.

Soderblom is a guy the hawks are super excited about and was one of the best goalies in the AHL this year. I think it would almost be a dealbreaker here

Kane is easily worth 3 assets, especially with the retention, and Debrincat is worth 4 assets, so NJ will have to give up two more high picks/prospects. And the Hawks shouldn't have to throw in Soderblom and the 3rd round pick.

I see. Hadn't really heard of him and figured Comesso would be a non-starter.

Both would be. Commeso is probably 3 years away (1 more in the NCAA, 2 in Rockford). Soderblom probably takes backup duties as soon as next year and we'll see where it goes from there. Granted, he won't be playing behind a very good team
