I don’t even see the trip on Chabot, hold on Chabot maybe but that’s a dive from Finland

That's actually pretty interesting notion because Finns at least as far as I know have been absolutely mad about the officiating in the finals too.

It's been absolute trash.

I mean, the high stick penalty on Sillinger when Heiskanen hit himself with his stick wasn’t a great look, gifted Finland 1, possibly 2 goals ( made it a 5vs3, who knows if Finland scores on the 5vs4 that was already there if Sillinger doesn’t get that pen )

I agree, it was a sh*t call.

Both teams ended up getting at least one complete bullsh*t goal.

Its impressive but winning the olympic gold when there are no NHL players allowed takes away a bit of the merit imo

How would you all rank the Flames' additions of Toffoli and Jarnkrok this year? (Toffoli of course has more term, but do you want it if you're Calgary?)

Seems like they're up there with Chiarot as the biggest TDL busts.

Idk, I think clagary won the toffoli trade by a bit, late 1st rounder + former 2nd round pick who has regressed. For a proven 25 goal scorer 50 point scorer minimum, usually will give more, and on a steal of a contract for 2 more years
I agree they paid a bit too much for Jarnkrok though

Looking at his stats, they aren't that bad. but not as good as the Flames hoped. Toffoli's contract is valuable so I still think Flames win the trade. (According to DucharmetheDOMinator, Canadiens could have gotten Zary/Pelletier + 1st in return)
Jarnkrok didn't do much but he's cousins with Lindholm so thats cool

I mean, yeah, 1 of Zary/ Pelltier/ Coronato + 1st would be much more fair

it might make sense tho. CGY pick (25th range) + Josh Anderson + Ghule for #2 overall

That’s not even close to 2 OA lol, Anderson’s a decent 2nd liner but wayyy too inconsistent, Guhle does have top 4 ( most likely 2nd pair ) upside and 25 OA is a package that could definitely get you something but 2 OA isn’t one of them

The Olympics were always intended to be held amongst amateur athletes and the inclusion of professional NHL players ruins the nature of the tournament imo.

Either way, yours is a terrible argument and only serves to take away from those that competed, lost, and won. The past two Olympics were probably the most evenly-matched tournaments since before NHL players were a regular. Winning it today is no less a feat than winning it in 2010 or 2014.

We already get best-on-best hockey every year. By definition, it's the NHL.

Well if the Olympics for the best of the best to compete, it kinda does make sense to have the NHL there since they are the best of the best
