Interesting take. 7th overall is worth more than Anderson for sure. But you put 2 BIG cap dumps coming back to Montreal as well.

I think both teams consider this.

That's way way way worse than my idea about trading #7 to Montreal.

Ottawa declines.

Try again.

Sens wouldn’t do this if they also took Zaitsev lol. They’re not in cap trouble.

Yeah.... no.

1 Ottawa doesn't need to dump Murray this badly.
2 the whole idea with getting rid of Murray would be to clear up the clogged goalie pipeline, so taking Allen back (who wasn't any better than Murray this year) is pointless
3 Josh Anderson is such a mid player. Tremendous physical skillset that he doesn't have the IQ to capitalize on. Someone will do something stupid to get him but it sure as hell shouldn't be Ottawa.
4 any trade involving the 7th overall pick needs to do exactly one thing, and that's bring back a player worth trading a 7th overall pick for. None of this does that. Not even remotely close.

(Trading White as a negative asset is totally pointless given his painless buyout. Essentially trading him here saves Ottawa 875K against the cap, hardly a BIG capdump imo.) Also Josh Anderson's contract is also really bad

Anderson's contract isnt negative value not close to comparable to Murray.

This goes nowhere close to even being considered by Ottawa. Not using the 7th overall pick to facilitate a buyout for an overpaid underperforming winger and a backup goaltender, especially when Ottawa would still have 2 under contract in this scenario.

Hard pass.

5.5mil with term for an injury prone winger whose career high is 27 goals, 47 points, and he's never cracked 20 goals or 40pts a 2nd time in his career. That's definitely not a good contract.

Josh Anderson has one of the best physical toolkits in hockey, and if he had a hockey IQ in the triple digits he'd be a nearly unstoppable winger. But he’s 28, we know what he is and he's just not that because he isn't capable of that. Not sure why he's the only 28 year old people still talk "potential" with.

nah lol. Anderson isn’t bad but he’s really just a physical middle 6er, not the right guy for Stützle. plus he’s got his own really hefty contract. White isn’t a “BIG cap dump” because his buyout this offseason is like $800k. getting rid of Murray isn’t that high of a priority, especially when part of the whole point is that the Sens have a logjam in the crease this season. So at that point, White and Allen would be a wash, and you’d get 7th overall and getting rid of Murray for Josh Anderson, which is just, absurdly not worth it for the Sens at all. Habs don’t have anybody available who’s worth 7th
