still a good player, not worth his contract

Ok well in that case, I agree.

JT needed Okposo more than we thought.grimace

Technically no as his best season was with Marner with 47 goals so he arguably needs a playmaker like Marner. Well the good news is there is someone available who can do that for him via FA but we need to move Kerfoot first.

We can trade Okposo for Nylander. Okposo was clearly superior with Tavares so might as well get him.

He comes off as arrogant and showboaty. (And he has a pathetic excuse for a mustache.)

EDIT: I forgot about Nylander, whom I do like. Edited the original list.

I’m sad to see that Johnston and Bourque aren’t going, but it has to do with the NHL’s training camps starting soon. Those were the two who I thought were going to battle for a roster spot next year.

BTW, important note: this is the actual finalized Canada WJC roster. However, the USA list from earlier today will go through one more round of cuts.

No Guenther, no Sourdif, no Bourgault, no Bourque, on top of Perfetti, Wright, and Neighbours. Forward corps took a massive hit. That's 6 of our top 9 (only Greig, McTavish, and Johnson remain from the top 9 that played Russia). Even Guenther, who played up and down the lineup (and imo deserved to be more up than down) isn't there. Power and Guhle were also arguably two of the top 5 D in the tournament (Power in particular woulda been the favourite to be D of the tournament for obvious reasons). Surprisingly, Canada actually looks very solid in goal for the first time in a while, Garand and Cossa are very good prospects. But only one of them can play at a time. Gonna need a big tourney from Bedard, and probably someone else to step up (wouldn't surprise me if Ostapchuk ended up on the 4th line and chipped in some depth scoring, Greig+Stankoven will have to play big minutes, etc.).

#Let'sGoUSA have a very real shot at this. Canada is definitely better in goal, but I think the US is deeper both offensively and defensively thanks to Neighbours/Wright/Perfetti and Power/Guhle leaving. We'll see how it ultimately all plays out.

tears of joy tears of joy

But honestly, I think what I find most funny about this is that the GM and new star player of the CALGARY Flames decided to have their meeting in MONTREAL. Way to throw subtle shade on your city.

Would be funny for Montreal to throw all their assets to trade for Huberdeau just for him to sign somewhere else in the offseason

Think you’re reading more into that than the average conspiracy theorist. Was the Wild GM (can’t remember if it was pre-Guerin, might’ve been multiple Wild GMs tbh) throwing shade on the USA when he flew to Russia to meet with Kaprizov a few years ago? Give your head a shake

It was a JOKE, dude. Didn't realize I was in the ACGM thread where people have no sense of humor. (Admittedly, it's harder to pick up on joking tones in writing, but come on-you really thought I was seriously accusing Treliving of throwing shade on Calgary by meeting Huberdeau in the place where Huberdeau lives?)

(BTW-yes, Guerin was the GM who met with Kaprizov)

Question for all: Aside from Montreal which teams could field the best alumni team? Obviously the other Original 6 will be up there but I’d imagine Edmonton and my Pens could hang with just about anyone. Montreal is excluded simply because their list is just significantly better than anyone else

Completely agreed. Absolutely love Cooley. Ridiculously skilled, incredibly smart, team-first player, and he seems like a really sweet guy too a la Jack Campbell.
