Trades
1.
WPG
  1. Mittelstadt, Casey
Additional Details:
Saw this deal from a Buffalo agm like the idea to give him a change of scenery and gives Buffalo a new element on their lhd and some more cap space to pursue fa or serve as a cap dump or help trades
BUF
  1. Stanley, Logan
  2. 2024 4th round pick (WPG)
2.
WPG
  1. Addison, Calen
  2. Jost, Tyson
  3. 2023 1st round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Jets get a top 10 protected 1st in 2023 jost to help with the cap as well as to provide more bottom 6 depth and Addison who seems to not get trusted with minutes in Minnesota and is local to Manitoba
MIN
  1. Reichel, Kristian
  2. Wheeler, Blake ($4,125,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Minnesota gets a local guy at 50% retained to help out the forward depth and a depth forward in reichel who can provide games and still can improve to be a 4th line guy
3.
WPG
  1. Jarry, Tristan
  2. Légaré, Nathan
  3. Pickering, Owen
  4. 2024 1st round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Both goalies indicate that they don't plan to stay long term

The jump from jarry to helle is most likely futures saw a first hallander, poulin I'd prefer legare and pickering as picking is local and big with top 4 upside and legare screams bottom 6 energy like Taney first is protected so it doesn't matter if it's this year or not just a first at some point
4.
WPG
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (COL)

The Ducks have some interest in Kovacevic, but I doubt we want to take Dillion.

Umn no. Jets fans just because he's from Minnesota means we want him. MIN absolutely declines. He's a cancer and cap dump..we don't want him. You specifically keep trying to force him on us like Justin holl..no

-Casey's not lived up to his draft pedigree, and has missed time, but over the past 2 seasons he's played 81 games and put up 16-25-41. Pretty decent for a middle-6 guy, IMO. Stanley is actually a 1st rounder from the year *before* Mittelstadt, so if anything he's closer to "bust" territory. I think it's an interesting challenge trade, but since Buffalo is giving up a player who's put up -some- numbers I'd think Winnipeg kicks in a better pick.

-I get that you're retaining a ton on Wheeler, but he's 36, mostly controls his destiny (only a 5-team trade list), and still costs 2x$4.125M with the retention. It's a big hit for a team where the Parise/Suter buyout penalty somehow gets -worse- next year, and to send out a strong prospect in Calen Addison *and* a 2023 1st is a big price to pay for a guy on the wrong side of 35. I think the Wild pass and use Addison as a dangle for a more affordable forward, if anything.

-I think Pittsburgh rejects this one. For one, they don't have the cap for Hellebuyck, even with Jarry going out, and second, I don't think the upgrade from Jarry to Hellebuyck is worth two prospects and a 1st. Not saying Helle isn't a strong trade chip, just that Pittsburgh isn't the right spot. I could see a team like New Jersey, if they're kicking around contention but still scuffling in goal, offering a package like this for Helle (except now you're getting back Mackenzie Blackwood instead of Tristan Jarry).

-Dillon's not a cap dump, but a 31 year old with 2x$3.9M isn't the type of player Anaheim should be targeting. I think they'll take him with a prospect they like in Kovacevic, but they're not going to send a strong asset back for him. If you're looking to flip Dillon, I'd do so at the deadline, when you can sell a dependable, physical LHD with two playoff runs in him as a good asset to a contender, as opposed to kind of dumping him with a good prospect for a future pick here.

Sabres decline. There is no point selling Mittsy on all time low. Let's hope kid will be healthy whole season, giving fair evaluation of his usefulness.

Wheeler is too slow to play with this current Wild team.
Billy thanks you for a good chuckle, then promptly hangs up the phone so he can call other GMs to share the laugh.

Big players take longer to develop and defensemen take even longer.
Chara was Stanley's age before he cracked a dozen pts for a season.
I would take a chance on him but not at the expense of Casey.
While his stats are not first line quality, they are middle six caliber and IMO he will crack the half century mark if he is lucky enough to center for Olofsson and Hinostroza.

See above, his value is not that low. 41 pts in the last 81 games is middle six output.
Buffalo has many options next year, give him a couple of decent wingers and let him accumulate some pts.
Then the Sabres will have the difficult decision of which centers to keep and which centers to trade away.
I agree with both of you.
@dannibalcorpse it was very astute to recognize his past two year output.
2020-'21 Casey was handcuffed to the "Krueger" system and 2021-'22 he was injured.
He could easily top 50 pts (low top line, high second line production) and we would all be lamenting trading him for a project as Logan Stanley.

1. Buffalo is not trading their #2/3 centre for a defenceman that plays sheltered minutes and who would be the 5th best LD on the Sabres' depth chart.

2. Minnesota wouldn't even claim Wheeler off waivers or trade him for future considerations when they can just sign him for cheap in 2 years.

3. Pittsburgh is not spending Pickering and a first round pick when they just get the same value out of Jarry that they would out of Hellebuyck.

4. Trading Dillon for one 2nd round pick after spending two on him is absolutely dreadful asset management on your part.

Just because you make trash deals doesn't mean they should be the standard lol.
