$1 million cap increase is not new, it’s been the expectation for months. Sure, there has always been a small chance escrow was paid before next year, but never more than a remote possibility.

I imagine all GM’s base case has had $83.5m for a while.

Edmunson got away with crosschecking Hyman in the back of the head

He got ejected that often derails punishment

Oct 18 Bettman literally said cap could go up by 4mill. So I dont think they were necessarily expecting it. Guess all those gambling commercials, digital ads, and jersey/helmet ads didnt do **** for the league but benefited the other guys lul

I got a feeling Bettman will negotiate with the NHLPA and get the cap to go up slightly higher than 1mill. As it seems hes not happy with the slight increase either

My guess next year it will be 84-84.5mill through NHLPA negotiations

eh, we still got a couple drafts to go. I'm more excited for the Kiviharju/Eisermann draft next year

I've had my eye on Tanner Howe for a bit now, I wanna see how much of his point production is because he's on Connor Bedard's wing playing without him next year....

All those ads were all sold by Oct 18th so it was all priced in at the time. That announcement was an acceleration of timeline to balancing escrow. Daly had previously been saying $1m or less increases until after 2024-25.

It’s always been remote chance we see big jump in 2023-24. None of this should be a surprise to anyone.

I think its gonna be more than 1mill but less then 4.5mill

Gonna say 84.5mill is the 2023-2024 cap (2mill increase 1mill through normal means + 1mill through NHLPA negotiations)

I was gonna say something about Macklin Celebrini. He's looked pretty good in Geneva so far.

Sounds reasonable. Especially if they know escrow will be done following year.

I am all for contemporary names for new trophies (maybe splitting up Calder between offensive and defensive, or adding a defensive dman award). But keep the old names for existing awards. I like the tradition.

What say you all?

when Ovi retires after breaking the record for most goals scored he should 100% get the rocket renamed after him. Same with Bergeron and the selke

NHL should make a trophy for Defensive Dman and call it the Norris and rename the current Norris to the Bobby Orr Award

is it too early for the Canucks to adopt the "Ruin the Crease-a for Misa" mindset?

No, it’s still try hard for Bedard. Canucks are trying to win games but are just bad

So was Tanner Jeannot just a one-year fluke? I think so.

...the Pronger Award? I feel like that would fit.

I’d be behind renaming the Art Ross to the Gretzky, I’d change the Norris to DFD of the year and create the Bobby Orr for OFD of the year, I’d also change the Selke to the Bergeron and the Jack Adams to the Bowman

NSH could have gotten a 1st for him in the offseason - it was clear he would regress this season. That 19% S% wasn’t sustainable

Yes

And all these ACGM's of him are getting tiresome

His value has dipped like what is he even worth now

Cause sure last year I would have said a 1st +

Now yeah wouldnt really break the bank going and getting him

The only way I would ever see it involving us is if it was a SCF between Toronto and Colorado and the main reason marketing. MacKinnon vs. Matthews would probs be the biggest thing in a while.

That said how the **** is the NHL's salary revolved around 1 team lul Bettman really ****ed up

But anyways cracks knuckles if its for the NHL to have more money we must do it
