Must sell at the trade deadline

Created by: VinnyDGM1
Team: 2022-23 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 16, 2022
Published: Dec. 16, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With the cap only going up 1 million next year and the Flames not in an optimal position to make the playoffs, I don't want to see this team make the same mistake (ie. not another Gaudreau leaving for nothing situation). Here are my deadline trades:
Trade Elias Lindholm to Detroit for Oskar Sundqvist, Donovan Sebrango, 2nd round pick 2023 and conditional 2nd round pick 2024 (will become 2024 1st round pick if Detroit makes 2023 playoffs)
Trade Dillon Dube to Winnipeg for Karson Kuhlman, 3rd round pick 2023 and conditional 3rd round pick 2024 (will become 2nd round pick if Winnipeg makes 2024 playoffs)
Trade Noah Hanifin to Boston for Matt Grzelcyk, Fabian Lysell, 1st round pick 2023 and 3rd round pick 2024
I will also show what the 2023 offseason will be for the 2024 roster next year.
Don't bother signing big name free agents as we need more younger guys in the lineup (ie. Phillips and Pelletier).
New lineup (for 2023-24)
Huberdeau/Kadri/Toffoli
Pelletier/Backlund/Phillips
Mangiapane/Ruzicka/Coleman
AHL guys for the 4th line
Jones/Schwindt
Kylington/Andersson
Weegar/Tanev
Grzelcyk/Zadorov
Gilbert; Markstrom/Vladar

HOT TAKE: the Flames will miss consecutive playoffs for as long as Huberdeau's new contract (ie. for the next 8 years).

As a Flames fan, I'm already sick of the Brad Treliving era (should have been fired the moment he failed to resign Gaudreau) as well as the Darryl Sutter era (today's NHL is not suitable for his system and style). We're clearly not competing anytime soon with the roster as it is now and the only way to get me optimistic is to see those two guys (as well as the rest of management and coaching staff) gone as scorched earth policy. Time to bring yourselves into the next generation (ie. let more young guys play versus overpaid old bums)... (Sorry maybe I'm just overreacting over every cringey losing streak the Flames are accustoming themselves to these days). Maybe the organization should realize that the true enemy are themselves.

Hanifin is that big of an improvement over grzelcyk. You are going from a strong #4 dman to a strong #3 dman, that isn’t a top 6 potential prospect a 3rd and a 1sts worth of value difference.

Bruins really don't have the dap or desire for Hanifan. Can't see Detroit giving up much for one year of Lindholm.
That Hubereau extension just messed so much for the Flames.

Sorry but I don't like any of these proposals. Not only should CGY not Trade their Best Player in Lindholm away, if they Traded any of those 3, it would have to be for far more in return.

I agree, it's been a frustrating season thus far and they haven't met expectations, but the Team has changed and we need to be patient while they go through a re-adjustment phase and certain guys either return or get back to 100% healthy.

Don't sell low now, besides BOS probably can't afford Hanifin now that they acquired Hampus Lindholm and CGY doesn't want or need Lysell or Gryzelcyk. We have Coronato and Kylington should return here eventually

Once guys start playing & performing to their true abilities, things will definitely turn around.

same, that is a good deal for a guy on a good contract. He is also a right shot center which is exactly what we need.

That's a major steal for Elias Lindholm, In reality Brad Treliving would be fired if he made that trade. Detroit won't be buyers though.
