To be frank, I think ANA, OTT and SJ could all do a little bit better than this.

These are very quantity over quality type deals, which rarely work.

Detroit isn't going to trade away a top pair defender for a russian kid that they may never get to sign.

Walman looks like found money right now. Unless they think it's smoke and mirrors I think they try to keep him.

I'm not sure about that.
Wingers are notorious for carrying significantly lower value compared to other positions.
Both Meier and Terry return two very big assets each (1st + Casey / Holtz + Mukhammadulin) with auxiliary pieces to round out value.
I mean that Terry package is among the most valuable packages in terms of futures ever traded in the cap era.
The Sens get back a cost controlled top 4 RHD as the main piece, their singular biggest need going forward.
Seems to me these packages are firmly in the realm of possible outcomes.

It's not a question of if, but when.
Gritsyuk signing his ELC is an inevitability, after the 23-24 KHL seasons at the latest.
Could realistically join the Devils for this year's playoff run if the Devils don't make any big adds at forward.

You prefer Rico over Rango? Short term push I get, but long term? Rico is definitely sizzling this season ... good bet he's going to breach his career high goal total.

Sharangovich has struggled this year, but Im not sure the coaches have helped him that much with all the lineup juggling & he's only 24. Idk, I still like the kid long term, super versatile.

I like Sharangovich a lot.
Between him and Rico at 50% for two playoffs runs, I could go either way honestly.
For the purposes of this AGM I just wanted to add another trade to the overall chaos :'D

this feels insanely untrue. In fact, aren't nearly all big trades quantity>quality??

NJ does look like the most likely landing spot for Meier at this point.

Well yes and no. Players with no leverage around them don't get the primary assets from each team, but trades where a team receive 4-6 assets in exchange 1-2 are relatively rare, unless the difference comes from draft picks. But given that all of ANA, OTT and SJ have some leverage over these players due to their RFA status, I'd expect the price to be a little more firm, for a lack of better word.

That being said, it's unlikely NJ would target all of them. I'm sure they could form a package good enough to land one of them.

Cuz he's younger and four million dollars cheaper.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Terry brings in a better package than Meier.

Cus he's one year younger, about as good, has more team-controllability and doesn't come with a QO above what he's worth.
In other words, the Ducks have a lot more leverage against their trade partner than the Sharks do for a similar quality winger.

They are both rfa how does he have more controllability? Meier is worth the 10 mil QO even though it’s likely he has a deal prior to trade

Don't think this is true.
Other than the Sharks, I can't see any team being interested in signing Meier to 10m, be it long-term or to a QO.
Meier is very good, but not worth that much.
That coupled with that Meier only has one more year until reaching UFA status makes him, for all intents and purposes, a pending UFA.

I might be wrong but I don't think that's the case for Terry, he has 2 more years until becoming a UFA.
Also, Terry is worth a lot more than his QO at 1.6m.

Meier’s market value per the athletic is 10.4 mil so yes the 10 mil is fine. Terry has also regressed significantly more to what his historical average is showing 37 goals last year as an outlier. Meier is being likely moved with a contract to avoid the QO out of proportion nonsense and to maximize his return

I subscribe to the Athletic (only God knows why tho) so I'm well aware.
Anyway, the point with Dom's market value vs. surplus value calculations isn't really to determine what any given player's next contract should be, but rather purely descriptive of present bang-for-buck.
Better / similar level players to Meier like Point, Tkachuk and Fiala didn't sign anywhere near there GSVA calculated market value, as such I really don't see that as prescribing any team to sign Meier to an AAV more than 9-9.25m, at most.

Also, the 10m QO for Meier is there whether you like it or not.
The leverage implications that has for the trade return doesn't just disappear in the eventuality that Meier is traded with an extension in hand.

Also also, Terry and Henrique are literally playing on an island in Anaheim.
Whatever hit his counting totals take this year compared to previous years I'm wholly inclined to disregard.
Terry is a baller.
