Tear it down

Description
Not sure on teams or return. Tried my best. Some may be deadline deals, others this summer. Rather tear it down to nothing, suck for 3-5 years and then be an actual contender. Sick of being a bubble team....

Red Wings decline. Hanifin is a rental. Can't trade a 1st plus for that. I doubt he waives his NTC for Detroit.

Once again LD is Detroit's position of strength, We're not giving up no 1st. 2nd and 3rd for a LD we've no room for.

Sabres decline. Kulich as part of a deal for Toffoli? Maybe. But Backlund? I don't think so.

I think the Red Wings should just get 23 LD and have that be the entire roster.

Ignoring the value of this trade, Ottawa simply does not have the cap space.

Absolutely not
We aren’t trading good young assets for 31year old Toffoli who has 1 year left on his contract

Sabres trade is pretty bad dude

I wouldn’t give you Kulich OR a 2nd for Backlund,
let alone BOTH- that’s nuts

Sabres would easily pass on this

We’re much better than a Bubble Team

Flames just had a bad and unlucky year. Between Huberdeau’s & Weegar taking more time to get comfortable than expected, Mangiapane hitting posts & cross bars just as much as the net, Vladar & Markstrom struggling, Kylington throwing us a curveball and not playing this year, Tanev not being Healthy and Kadri just being outright lazy in his own end, we were a goal away from having 18 more wins this year, which is rare & abnormal to say the least, so I’m banking on a huge rebound year and competing with EDM & VEG for tops in the division like we were last season. As for you proposals

BUF declines and I’d really like to see Backlund be named Captain and Retire a Flame in 2-3 years

DET is the wrong Team if Hanifin won’t extend long-term for $6.25-6.5mil/yr with the Flames. We should get a 1st + 2nd + 3rd + Top Prospect for Hanifin, similar to what Hampus Lindholm brought back for ANA

A 2nd or Early 3rd is fine for Vladar, but we won’t be retaining anything on him and I’d prefer a Player or soon to be Ready NHL Prospect over a Pick, like Jacob Bernard-Docker, Mark Kastelic + Egor Sokolov, Jani Hakanpaa + Scott Wedgewood or something we can use as opposed to Picks, which are pure gambles and years away from doing anything to help us

Good Proposal for Toffoli, but who replaces him!? We’d need a Right Shot replacement and I’d want to make sure Coronato or Duehr are capable replacements before moving him. Otherwise I’m hoping he’s tired or moving around and likes Sutter & CGY enough that he signs a Team Friendly deal to stay. He was our Best Forward this season

Same as above, I’d expect to get much more for Lindholm, even more than Hanifin and again, I want replacement players and Too Prospects if we can’t sign him long term for $7-8.5mil/yr, hopefully similar to what Landeskog received or if need be, as much as Bo Horvat received, gulp 😳

What are your thoughts on signing Domi or putting Dube at 2C and moving Kadri to 1RW or 2RW?

Stecher’s okay, but wouldn’t Connor Clifton, Matt Dumba or Justin Holl be better options to replace Tanev at 2RD and/or Holl, Hakanpaa or Schenn to play 3RD!?

I like going younger, but we still need Penalty Killers, so Noel Acciari and Zach Aston-Reese should be depth considerations with Lewis coming back as a 13th/14th Scratch Forward as additional insurance as well

Signing Gavle, Sweden Goalie Jonas Johansson to compete with Wolf and be another Goalie for Markstrom to Mentor might not be a bad idea either

Go ahead, but it’d be a major waste of time & energy

Andersson isn’t available and BUF wouldn’t be willing to pay the price or would cost for CGY to change their minds

Lindholm is better than Hannifin. Lindholm was consistently performing as a top pairing D. While I like Hannifin, he isn't a bona fide top pairing LD. He's top 4, and firmly top 4. I think 31 GMs take Lindholm over Hannifin every time.

That said, you are right, Detroit doesn't need a LD. Period. No need to say Noah is better than any of the prospects...he is,but the sheer number of them in Detroit's system suggests that you have your top 4 set for years to come with LD, even if 2 fail fail to live up to the hype.

Yeah, I’d give Lindholm a slight edge over Hanifin, otherwise they’re virtually identical and again, Hanifin is THE GUY that might become available this year

Lindholm is slightly bigger and blocks more shots, but Hanifin is younger and has a better Takeaway Giveaway ratio. Both are fairly equal offensive contributors, both play similar minutes and on both the PP & PK

Other than Hanifin being younger the only other comparison consideration might be who played on the better teams and had better D-Partners, I’d say Lindholm had the advantage in that respect, hence why he has better stats, but I wouldn’t argue that much or make that my hill to die on by any means

In any event, Hanifin should return something similar to Lindholm, should he be traded that is, and yes, DET isn’t the Trade Partner for Hanifin

Sorry what!? I don’t understand your post

I don’t want to Trade Backlund at all and I also said in a post above that BUF would decline that offer

“ BUF declines and I’d really like to see Backlund be named Captain and Retire a Flame in 2-3 years”

Rasmus Andersson on the other hand isn’t available, he’s untouchable as far as every Flames Fan is concerned
