Description
Not blowing it up. But getting players back.

This core can't get it done collectively. Time to move on. Kuznetsov and Mantha are two guys who are struggling and a change of scenery would help. Therefore, I made a move for both in exchange for wheeler and scheifele. The jets are taking on almost 4M in extra cap (in addition to retaining half on wheeler) and two lesser players. Therefore, they should get a 2nd and a good prospect.

Ive already explained why the price for dubois to MTL starts with dach. Just see my previous teams before typing a comment like "MTL will just wait a year" or "MTL wont trade dach". I made a solid case as to why this is possible and you writing a generic reply won't change my mind.

With helly gone, the jets will need a new goaltender. I went with Luukhonen cause I think he has some untapped potential that wade flaherty might be able to unlock.

Finally, while LA fans might not want to move clarke, they can take the hit and have the prospect depth for it. Acquiring hellebuyck now will take a kings ransom (no pun intended) and I would be looking for vilardi, clarke, or byfield (Ik no way la does that), and that's pretty much it. Since their defence is already good, id think clarke is the most expendable of the three. Since clarke is a large piece on his own, I didn't add much else, taking back a cap dump in petersen and a 2nd to offset that. Also, this is a sign and trade.

With the 1st at the draft, we take Matthew wood or David reinbacher depending on who is available.

Lmk what you think! And Jets fans, is this a playoff team? If not, this TDL should bring in some good assets for Nino, Dillon, and maybe even Mantha if he can bounce back.

Los Angeles can't afford Hellebuyck -- either to acquire him, or to re-sign him.

Even though it seems improbable the Sabres will give up Jokiharju in any trade, if you substitute Niederreiter for Stanley, the Sabres should be interested

Good joke

Let me add the following then: Kirby Dach at 22 and 3.362m per for the next 3-years > Pierre-Luc Dubois at 24 and roughly $8.0m per for the next 6 to 8 years.
I'd take both (and chances are we will). But given the choice, I'm sticking with Dach.

Interesting take. Didn’t expect it, that’s for sure. I’d think you make cap space for a vezina caliber guy like that. No?

No shot you’re serious? I get fans fall in love with guys on their team but there’s no way any team actually takes Dach and his contract over Dubois at 8x8.

Well, I don't see a lot of Habs ACGM suggesting a Dach for Dubois swap. But I sure see a lot of WPG ACGM suggesting it. That should tell you something. Capspace is worth premium in this league. Dach gives us that for the next three years, while being a perfectly fine center behind Suzuki (or wing if we need him to be).

I don’t think a single Habs fans on this entire website would trade Dach straight up for Dubois …

The only team that accept a deal is Anaheim. If negotiation start with Each then it will end there. Don't need Dubois that badly. Also Scheifle = Kusnetzov and Wheeler = Mantha, no need to add the second and the prospect. Schmidt has positive value (you could get a 4th for him easily). LA don't have the cap space for Helleybuck and they won't be giving Clarke. Return would be a first, a second and Turcotte. Not more.

Dach is the only player on the MTL roster outside of Suzuki and Caufield worth anything…

It's like saying outside of Zegras and Mctavish there isn't any value on Anaheim's roster

No, giving up two players to get one isn't usually a successful plan, and then we'd have to give up a third if we wanted to re-sign him. We're fine with our forward group as constituted -- tied with Colorado for ninth in the league, only half a goal per game behind first-place Edmonton -- to such an extent that we can afford to give up one of them to improve our defense, which is the real weakness in the team. If you look at our goalies at the end of the season, they compare favorably to the goaltenders on the teams in the West that are in the round of 8; adding Linus Ullmark or Jeremy Swayman or Andrei Vasilevskiy or Juuse Saros wouldn't do any more for us than they did for their own teams. On both the risk-reward and cost-benefit axes, adding Connor Hellebuyck doesn't do us nearly as much as adding Vlad Gavrikov or Ryan Graves or an equivalent LhD and a solid -- not All-Star -- goalie.

Yup. Dach was acquired for the 13th overall pick (and the 66th). WPG wont get as high value back for PLD.

And I’d say Dach gain a good amount of value as well. If we consider guys like Dvorksy, Barlow, Moore potential top 10 picks this year, I’d rather have Dach then those guys.

While there are tons of Jets Teardown AGM's on this site, I rarely see pending UFA Nino Niederreiter getting traded. Why is that?

Y'all called Danault, Lehkonen and guys like that mediocre players when they were playing for the Habs but we went to the SCF in 2021 with a bunch of these mediocre players
And those mediocre players went the year after for :
Danault signed a 5.5M X 6 deal with the LAK
Lehkonen vs Barron (former 1st round pick RHD) + 2nd round pick
Chiarot vs 2023 unprotected 1st round pick + 4th round pick + Ty Smilanic
Kulak vs Lagesson + 2nd round pick + 7th round pick

I know I didn’t add Terry, Drysdale, Fowler and others. But Mtl has a lot of players with good value. Outside of the three you named, there is Slafkosky, Guhle, Xhekaj, Harris, Anderson, Farrel, Evans, Matheson, Montembault and arguably Dvorak, Hoffman, Allen and Edmunson.
