Wings pass, this is not a deal they would consider

If you take out the second in the wings deal they probably accept. That's the only way. I don't see us paying for Allen.

I like Allen just fine but not worth spending a 2nd to add a goalie for Detroit

I would rather spend that (hopefully) 17th OA on Lafrenière than PLD to be honest.

When did Allen become worth a 2nd?

that's too bad, Sean Farrell is going to be very good. I actually don't like this trade for MTL.

Question, doesnt a 4 yr contract walk Laf to UFA? Not sure I like that. But...it doesnt matter because I don't think Mtl can take a chance on him.

Detroit will give you a 5th at best for Allen and that's only if we can't land a better option in free agency. There is zero market for 2nd tier goalies right now, especially goalies with cap prohibitive deals.

He's going to be very short. I hope he makes it though. I like it when smaller guys succeed.

No team is paying a 2nd for Allen or a 3rd for Edmondson. And it takes more than a 5th to dump Hoffman.

For the Allen trade, I was mostly looking at it on MTL perspectives. Let go of a veteran (Allen) to make place for a younger goalie (Primeau).

Detroit was the trade target beause they had bad goaltending last season and only Husso with a contarct on the roster. I think Cossa will get there eventually in 2-3 years, when Allen contact will be over.

Maybe a 2nd round was generous on my part. Don't know the value of a vet goalie on the market.

Good. Be happy you have Farrell and won't get Laffy, that way everyone is happy.

Edmundson has more value that what you think. He could have been traded for more than a 3rd round at the last trade deadline... if healthy. He's a good defensive defencemen with 1 year left at a reasonable cap hit. Only problem is his health. Can be a good veteran presence in a locker room.

Detroit paid less to get Husso and Ned coming off better seasons than what Allen just had (and are both younger). There's no way he pulls a second rounder

For the PLD situation... I would take the chance that he signs as an UFA in 2024. If it's meant to be and if he really wants to play in MTL, don't pay assests for him. Wait his UFA. We will have lots of cap space in 2024.

Detroit makes that trade immediately after Mtl gives us q first for Ned.
