Yes because it’s absolutely reasonable the Jackets just decide “meh, who needs a 3rd overall pick and franchise center” and trade for an $11m playoff ghost Mitch Marner, seems ideal

Fair enough on the 1st trade, you just picked a team with 3 goalies but you did mention any other team
CBJ need a real center, and drafting one of Leo Carlsson or Adam Fantilli is the move. Not another winger

3OA is out of the discussion unless it's for a franchise center.

Why would that be fair to CBJ. A lot to give up for two years of Marner. They keep their draft picks and have extra cap to sign UFAs.

The only Franchise player in this draft is Bedard, Fantilli is more an Eichel like (so not even a superstar) and Carlsson isn't a sure thing either. You can't call those kind of prospect Franchise player right now

Jarmo came out and said last week that the only way we trade the 3OA is for "A 25 year old (or younger) 1C under contract for 5+ years". So, either start only offering Matthews to us or stop using CBJ as a landing spot for Marner.

It almost makes me miss "Jenner for a fifth" proposals.

Almost.

There's a team that will...but it won't be Montreal. Chicago acquired Mrazek to make him the starter. Habs don't need Murray, at all. In fact, I'm not even sure Murray can start for anyone, which could impact his value compared to Mrazek.

Habs counter with:
Murray + Boston 1st (28th OA)
for
Habs 3rd (69th OA)

Moving from our 2nd (37th OA) to Boston 1st (28th OA) is not enough incentive to make this trade
Buying out of Murrays contract will cost more than 9 draft slots
Unless someone that Hughes really, really, really wants drops to the 28th spot (ie. Colby Barlow)

Maybe Anaheim gives you Boston's 2nd (60th OA) for Murray and Boston's 1st (28th OA)

Very true. No one has ever had success without a #1OA pick “franchise” player.

It’s why EDM and NJ have won all the Cups. Hell, TOR has like, four of them, and they can’t stop winning. Why even bother.

Please, don't ever believe what a GM says in public. He certainly isn't laying out hand for all too see. Why would the CBJ even want Matthews and his one year left till UFA.

It's implied that he'd sign an extension of at least 3-4 years which would mean we would be interested. And we literally have 0 centers lol. And we have 4 top 6 wingers already (Johnny, Laine, Marchenko, KJ). We do not need another winger with a huge cap hit when Johnny is already a similar player with a cheaper contract.

Certainly can't imply an extension for anyone. IMO CBJ wouldn't be on the team Matthews. is going to sign for long term.
