Oh my. Ducks fans will have a Field Day with this one. 🍿

Lowballing Bert continues. That's less than what he turned down from Detroit. 🤭

I have 4 million in cap space for any lowballing contracts.

Toronto gave up the best player in this deal. If the response is Marner isn’t a playoff preformer neither was Tkachuk before he was traded.

Probably will which means it’s near fair value. I personally don’t think it’s enough for Marner imo. Terry nor McTavish will be as good individually and not together as Marner. Terry is gonna be a 60-65 point guy and same with McTavish. We do get younger but at the same time get far worse.

Marner is the best player now, sure. But McTavish is 19 and a franchise cornerstone. Why on earth would a rebuilding Anaheim team do this? The whole purpose of a rebuild is to build around young players like McTavish.

Isn’t the franchise cornerstone Zegras?

Plus they’re drafting Fantalli who would go 1st overall in every draft the last 8 years minus 2015, 2016 and 2019.

Imo the franchise cornerstone is Zegras and Fantalli

Doesn't matter who they're drafting, McTavish is also a franchise cornerstone. A lot of GMs in the league would kill to have Zegras/Fantilli/McTavish/Terry/Drysdale. No way they trade any of those 5.

The same be said about Matthews/Marner/Nylander/Rielly/Tavares, Calgary with Gaudreau/Tkachuk/Giordano/Lindholm/Hanafin and Florida with Ekblad/Barkov/Huberdeau/Weegar/Bobroskvy.

The point ima tryna make is that when a player like Marner, like Tkachuk and any young superstar is on the market it’s not wise to not try and trade for it.

Marner will need to go to a team who is fighting for the cup. He only has 2 years left. The price will be very high for Marner. So a team will only do it, if they think they are 1 super star away.

Anaheim is not in the position. They just had a historically bad year. They are several years off. So they turn this down easily.

I am looking at teams like Seattle, New Jersey, Islanders, Carolina (if they don't win the cup), as the potential types of teams who may go after Marner.

Yeah that gets turned down easily by the Ducks. Rather have those two pieces going forward if I'm rebuilding than Marner.

San Jose isn’t paying the 36th overall to take on a cap dump and a struggling prospect

1. Tkachuk > Marner
2. You can’t compare a Marner trade to a Tkachuk trade. Tkachuk was RFA meaning the acquiring team got to sign a contract instantly. Marner is UFA after 2 seasons so he’s not eligible for a new contract for over a year. There’s no certainty like there was with Tkachuk.

Y'all leafs fans need to stop this ****, none of our young core nor first round picks are avaliable for any of your core 4.

Get over it, it's not happening.

No it’s not. And you just proved that McTavish and Terry collectively are better than Marner lol. Marner has never reached 100 pts in a season and you just lowballed McTavish and Terry at 120-130 points. Terry is already at 60-70 pts and is only just entering his prime. He is more likely going to be a ppg player. And McTavish is only 20 and already 40-50 pt player. He is likely going to be at least a ppg player, most likely where Marner is now. Now let’s also take into account that Anaheim is rebuilding so they aren’t going to value Marner in the same way that a contender would. Any GM of a rebuilding team would get fired by trading just a player like McTavish for Marner, much less adding a player like Troy, and rightfully so.

All the players you're naming are in their primes whereas Terry is just entering his and McTavish is raw still.
