It's unlikely that Aho leaves anyway, but he's not worth Leo Carlsson imo

Trading the 3rd overall pick for one year of Aho? Is Columbus at that stage in their development?

Aho is absolutely worth Carlsson imo, but I would not take Carlsson third overall anyway. I’d rather take Smith or even Michov. I like Carlsson don’t misunderstand me, but his rise up the draft boards this season is eerily similar to Slafkovsky’s. He’s a better prospect than Slaf, but he shouldn’t go number 3 imo.

laugh Somehow Sebastian Aho isn't leaving a potential cup contender in Carolina. For the worst team in the NHL Columbus. What a joke. Dude you're not getting Leo Carlsson for sebastian Aho this crap needs to stop. Duh Carlsson at 3 x $950,000 or Aho at 8 x $10,000,000 minimally. Why would Jarmo do that. shakes head

Carlsson didn't rise up the draft boards. He has been in the top 4 all year. Smith is the one that has been rising and in a very undeserved fashion.

Will Smith is breaking records set by Austin Mathews with the US NDTP at a time where the USHL and the program are arguably stronger than they were when Mathews played. Carlsson leap frogging Michov on the other hand seems completely unwarranted.

Carlsson didn't leapfrog Michkov. Michkov is falling because of his contract and the war. There is a very big difference.

You can always tell the people that don't have a strong argument for Smith because they compare his DY production to Matthews in his D-1 season. Smith is not on Matthews' level. Next thing you'll tell me is that he's a strong 2-way guy.

I’ve seen Smith’s production compared to Mathews U-18 season and his Draft Year. Mathews was a late bday which accounts for a lot of that tho.

Slaf 10pts in 31 games in Liga = horrible
Carlsson : 25pts in 44 games in SHL = amazing

Like I’ve said he’s a much better prospect, but I personally don’t view him as a top 3 pick.

Only was 3OA gets moved is for a young, high-end 1C with term. I.e. Aho or EP with extensions in place.

That being said, no, I don’t think Aho gets moved, let alone in the division to CBJ.

I get that, but Carlsson is universally seen as a T3 pick in this draft, to the point some scouts actually see him as on-par with Fantilli.

That’s probably a bit generous, sure, but point is people much smarter than us project him as a sure-fire T3 guy.

Why would the Canes trade Aho anyway? 3OA isn’t getting Lindholm, who is a downgrade of Aho, so why would it get Aho?

Btw I really like Carlsson, but I personally think Michov is so gifted that I might prefer waiting for him to Carlsson or Smith.

He just played 1C with Sweden at the World Championship as the youngest player to ever suit up for their team and had the 10th most productive tournament by a draft eligible player in tournament history while doing so. His coach sees him as a center in the NHL, he played nothing but center before joining Orebro, and he wants to be a center in the NHL. He's going to play center.

I don’t put much stock in the World Cup of Hockey tbh. It’s a tournament where AHL all stars can rack up points lol.

Top-5 picks don’t get traded. Not in cap era at least.

Smith and Michkov are also #3 candidates as well.

Aho is going to get a 6x9 more likely than an 8x10... Wadell is very good at getting players to take team-friendly contracts and Aho really likes Raleigh
