Why is LA trading anyone good. This is a player that has told Winnipeg he is not willing to sign with. Winnipeg has almost no leverage. Plus, LA can't afford whatever cap hit PLD is looking for ($8-9m).

Scheifele is an auto no for us

Canes have no desire to take on Sheifele and his baggage, and Nikishin is straight up untouchable.

Scheifele isn't the guy Waddell would give up Nikishin for. He was off limits for Timo, who posed a lot more interest. Pass it along. I don't doubt they are looking at Scheifele, but cautiously.

I can't see the Hawks taking Wheeler, even with the retainage. What might work is the Hawks are the third team and hold some salary, but I doubt they're giving up a pick. It's more likely that they get a pick either from Winnipeg or a third team involved.
