Toffoli

Well, to their defense, good players are usually worth a 1st. Hell, Toffoli was even worth a 1st a year ago!

We just entered the twilight zone 2 weeks ago, where Johansen, Hall, Hayes, Toffoli, etc. are not worth more than low value assets.

Yeah salary cap is a crazy world

Yegor is a genuinely useful middle six fwd that the Flames should try at center (as he could be really good there).
He'll be fairly cheap, has a wicked wrister, very good on the PK and has worked very well as a complimentary piece to Hughes's lines in his first two years in the NHL.

But man, this looks like a fleece. Toffoli is a completely different animal.
Holy Fitz W.

Toffoli can barely skate … different animal lol

Not gonna lie, I think the majority here are tuh-rippin'. Frankly, I think Calgary wins this deal, but any way you slice it this is absolutely not some great fleece by New Jersey. Either folks are underestimating the value of Sharangovich or overvaluing a 31 yo UFA coming off his outlier career season. You guys do know Sharangovich (just turned 25, saves Calgary a little cap) outscored Toffoli the season prior, right?

In what world is Sharangovich a low value asset?

I actually like this for Calgary, Toffoli is going to regress majorly. He's not as good as his totals suggest. Sharangovich is young and has a lot of upside. For one year of Toffoli... I'm not as convinceed this is a Jersey win as others

In Barry Trotz world, where bottom 6 fowards can be found anywhere.

Habs A+?

By a 3-to-1 margin, capfriendly users said Calgary won the deal with Montreal

Not bad for a rental winger who asked for a trade. I feel like people always overvalue the returns for players like this and are going to think this was a fleece rather than solid market value

I would think the cost of a rental winger with Cup experience and 30 goal pedigree would be higher.......look at what Tarasenko got for the blues.

This trade screams rookie GM to me. Either NJ had no business moving Sharangovich to begin with if he is so good and should have simply resigned him or CGY is overvaluing him here and jumped the gun on a player they could have easily kept the entire year and moved at the TDL for the exact same value coming back. Toffoli didn't ask to be traded, simply said he would not resign. There was no rush to do this deal now IMO.

But as always, who effing knows. Watch Sharangovich score 40 next year. This prediction game we do, is for the birds anyway.

They have the Flames 2025 1st which has a few clauses but could be as high number 2 overall, the Flames selling only helps

Could end up as a 2026 unprotected pick, probably best case

No complaints here. It took him a couple of months to find his game here, but he has been awesome.

Sharangovich resigns for less cap and matches Toffoli's point total next season. 6 years younger, same potential as a 30-30 player, and a pick on top of that? I'll take it.
