Not a fan of Mason Marchment. The guy finished the year with 3 goals in 30 games. The Habs have enough players that cant put the puck in the net. 4.5M AAV with 3 more years of term for that production. Unless Gallagher goes the other way. Big pass.

Marchment has a 10 team NTC. Good chance Montreal is on that list.

The easy solution is simply let the season play out and Dallas will be able to fit in Petry much more easily at the TDL without bad money coming back. There is no rush to trade Petry as the Habs will be in LTIR cushion.

For a 4th and a 7th, I could see Columbus adding DeSmith for some internal competition, but that guarantees that one of he or Tarasov gets waived. Tarasov probably gets claimed, so DeSmith would be more likely to get waived...so then we're talking about potentially losing a 4th and 7th for nothing if he gets claimed. It really depends on what Jarmo thinks those odds are.

its obvious they want to try to best to trade petry before seasons starts. maybe he stays on the team until TDL but apparently they are trying really hard to flip desmith and petry soon.

agree with this - feels like if you move Petry now you're just taking whatever's out there. waiting til the TDL will drive up demand, especially when you factor in that Petry will have an extra year at about $2.3M if the Habs fully retain. guys like Petry are catnip to GMs at the deadline, I think the Habs could get a haul for him at that point.

No need for the Habs to take on Marchment. Dallas can make separate trades.

I can see Petry to the Stars with retention for a few picks.

More likely that Suter gets moved. Similar cap hit to retained Petry for a much worse player.

Seems like Suter and a pick swap type deal.

Stars would be so much better without Suter. Addition by subtraction. He's horrible.

Every game during the third round, he made a terrible play that led directly to a goal against. Every single game.

His mobility was starting to really be limited near the end of his time with the Wild. He was never the same after that ankle injury a few years back, imo.

Now if Nill could do the Wild CF fanbase a favor and acquire Petry so the Petry to MN ACGMs could end, that would be great!

If Marchment is going the other way, pretty sure we don't retain on Petry. On Marchment, a one year wonder to this date, MIA in playoffs and three more years instead of Petry's 2... Not something I'd be looking for.

MTL has to many forwards and got rid of Hoffman to make room for the younglings

If they move Petry they probs just gonna want draft compensation
