In a years time with a loaded FA class and those players are another year slower and older you might be shocked.

For the rangers, they could just buy-out goodrow next year. Besides teams rarely Use a 1st to dump players, the most is multiple 2nds (nemeth, Ladd, etc.)

Whatever the compensation is the Hawks would probably take the picks for the contracts. Thats the point of this exercise.

So Dallas gives away while old a productive player with 2 year left and a first for the privilege? Nil doesn't consider that.
Rangers buy out goodie first. Colorado probably does the same. Lou isn't paying to give Lee away.

Overreaction central, except for Lee. Also Goody not in your lineup screams cfacg tmz special lol. Next year we simply retain 1m and will fetch a 2nd+ easy, now he's a cheaper than any decent ufa...

This is a year from now. Not this summer. When teams will be trying to clear cap to go after all of the top FAs next year.

Lee is overpaid but he still is effective and had a nice year last year. He had really nice chemistry with Horvat. I think with Lee being the captain and still being fairly productive, he's not someone to salary dump. If you want Palmieri, be my guest.

Unless Johansen completely bombs this year, no chance the Avs let him go. Now, Manson they would be willing to dump but they aren't giving you a 1st to do it.

I figured that out before commenting by the fact it says 24/25 season I am capable of reading. My opinion still stands.

We retain and all of a sudden Goodrow is an asset. Or we buy him out. Either way a 1st is unreasonable.

while all 4 players are overpaid for their current play... theyre still useful players and all 4 teams involved are contending now, so giving up assets for a rebuild in a year seems pre mature.
Goodrow and Johansens contracts arent bad enough to warrant a 1st.

Then drop the pick compensation with the player dump that the Hawks will gladly accept next summer. That is the point. All 4 of these teams are cap strapped and looking to shed bad salary to buy new FAs next summer. Send the Hawks the approriate draft capitol and they will take away your bad contract.

Buying him out actually gives us cap space next year cause of how Goodrow’s contract is structured. Giving up a pick just doesn’t make sense for the Rangers.

If it costs that much to dump Goodrow the Rangers would rather just buy him out.

If you are paying a 1st for a cap dump the player still needs to be a 3rd line forward or middle dman

And Benn will still be a valuable member of the team. Not a cap dump. The cap is also going up quite a bit. Giving away a first round pick to trade a perfectly good player and then turning around and spending that money in free agency where players are typically good but not great is a backwards move
