Hate my deal all you want, but if you are going to comment, let's at least discuss the deal and why it's "so bad" for Anaheim.
That ain't gonna happen here. Too many just reply with insults because they are hidding behind keyboards instead of discussing rationaly and indicating what could be changed in order for someone's AGM could potentially work or not.
I'll just comment on why Anaheim wouldn't move Zegras to Habs.. While Habs would need to provide 1st unprotected picks, and notable players, I don't think ANA would be able to trade him out since they would be hammered in the media and by the fans. Unfortunately, I don't think Habs have players that could be moved to satisfy a trade for him. And unless Zegars specifically says he would want out of ANA they will pay him at some point to ensure he's on the ice come October. From the reports, Zegras doesn't want to sign long term, but I think is is not that he doesn't want to commit to ANA, but mostly because of the cap situation where players of his caliber will wait to see if they can get more come 3 to 4 years from now.
Matthews did that in Toronto, while he got the 13.5M$/yr if he's unhappy in 4 years from now he can move on, if he's happy and there is more cap room, he'll get 3 to 5M$ more a year which will give him more than he would've gotten from TOR had he signed for longer.
Zegras must be looking into that thinking if it goes well, he'll get more down the line.. Or he can opt out and go elswhere if the deal goes beyond is RFA status. Brige deal seem to be more like it for now.
I think Habs would need to give the next 2 years of 1st, Dach (if he's fully ready to play and at 95% healthy minimum), Ghule and possibily even another one like Harris. Is Zegras worth this? In my mind, I don't think he does, but I think it's what they would ask for in order to move his caliber. SUzuki and Caufield are long term signings, so I don't think ANA would go for these guys at this point.
