Anaheim probably has Drysdale signed if he was willing to take 2.25. We are also terrible defensively with this

Age and position both are factors. They're not the same players.

They are very generous deals considering their circumstances.

And neither are worth 1sts, let alone 1sts + which was the entire point.

A Leafs 1st will be very late, in the late 20s. Pinto is worth that. Pinto was picked 32nd, and he's at that age where he can contribute while still making a relatively cheap contract, which is ideal for the Leafs. You can never have too many centers.

Some good thoughts on the trades. Ducks do get 3 prospects. IMO Niemela and Robertson will be NHLers.,,,,but gotta think they keep Drysdale
Sens probably don't want to waive to 2026 for that pick. But something more immediate.....like Minten and a 2nd might do it.
Desparate cap Leafs won't get that return fro Brodie, even if they can find a M NTC team that take on his full cap.

I don’t think you have a strong understanding of where the leverage is for ANA. Drys is fully controlled as a no arb RFA.

If he’s happy taking a $2.25M bridge deal, there’s at most like $750k gap between the two sides. No need for another undersized offensive Dman in Niemela, and little Rob can’t stay on the ice. Many better offers could be had if they wanted to deal him. This would be a very easy no

Except pinto isnt worth a mid 2nd either, and you're adding a prospect on top. It's a vast over payment for a guy who might be an ok 3rd liner on a good team

Ah yes, im being a homer by stating a player who is not on my team is not worth a raw value to literally any team. But hey, i bet the sabres would totally give up a 1st and a prospect for pinto, right?

Yes. Because your assessment is biased based on your homerism.

I would do that deal for Pinto. A 6'3" 22 year old who just scored 20 in his first year. Absolutely. Pinto is a solid 3C with 2C potential. Chances of drafting a player like that with a very late first rounder are 50-50 at best.

Absolutely, and 32nd pick today is now a first rounder.
Pinto would be a steal for a late first rounder who is 5 years away from the NHL. Pinto is here and ready. I think he can be a 30+ goal scorer.

yes, because 35 point scorers arnt worth 1st rounders, he has done nothing to show he is worth half of that. This is very simple, if he was worth a 1st rounder then he must be super duper valuable right? so why hasnt ottawa locked him up to a contract instead of low balling him for 1x1 million?

Lol.

The more you "prove" your point, the further obtuse you are coming across.

Pens decline. I like Laffy, but the Pens would need to send salary back, not a pick.
