Was bored so I decided to make a chart showing where teams are almost halfway through the season:

Powerhouses: Canucks, Rangers, Bruins, Knights, Stars
Pretty Good: Avalanche, Jets, Kings, Maple Leafs, Islanders, Panthers, Flyers
Solid: Capitals, Lightning, Predators, Hurricanes, Devils, Yotes, Red Wings
Not Great: Blues, Canadiens, Penguins, Wild, Flames, Kraken, Oilers, Sabres
Downright Terrible: Senators, Blue Jackets, Blackhawks, Sharks, Ducks

Swap Toronto and Colorado with Vancouver

And anyone who wants to disagree... What's Vancouver's record against Vegas, Colorado, Toronto, NYR and Boston?

1 win...

But all good besides that

Fair point. Was debating making the top tier “Stanley Cup Contenders”. If that as the tier, I wouldn’t put Vancouver in the category.

That's fair and was sort of my point... Like, if Van was 2-2-2 against the top tier teams, then fair... But they aren't and have sort of been feasting on the weaker teams in their division IMO...

Thanks for your list. The Panthers made in to the playoffs by one point last season
After seeing what the Panthers did to high flying Bruins last season in round one, and then march to the Finals. Just get into the playoffs and get lucky and play to your best.

“Solid” sounds like an upgrade over “pretty good”.

So I’d take it.

I’d rather be #16 with scorn than #17 with praise.

McBain completes the comeback, winning a board battle for the puck and knocking in a rebound for an OT goal after trailing the Avs, 4-0.
Wild game.

The Yotes have been our kryptonite for years now. When the Vegas/Seattle expansion pushed them into the Central I knew they would be our spoiler too often

I don't think we're that good yet, but it's nice to see them putting some pieces together and making progress this year. Future looks bright.

Just realized that Zibanejad had the same amount of points and Crosby and Draisaitl which in my eyes is pretty good since he had a relativley slow start.

Didn't mean in a standings perspective, at least not just yet; but in H2H for some reason the Yotes have been trouble for the Avs. With the new playoff format it could be a recipe for disaster (for us).

You smoked us the week before. I wouldn't look forward to a 7-game series haha Stranger things have happened, I guess. They're in a wildcard spot. They still need more consistency before they make any noise, but I'm happy they are competitive (and bothering a few teams).

WSH signing Bear when they had 7 Dman already seems a bit odd

But at the same time makes u wonder are they potentially looking to move Jensen or TVR

Agreed, out of the two, I suspect Jensen. He’s getting paid $4.050M for 3 more years and has only 5 points in 32 games. TVR is playing just as bad but the contract isn’t terrible.

I mean lets be real for Jensen points not his thing. His strength was always defense like brodie

LAK should have traded Clarke instead of Faber.

I think they should have kept both and traded Pinelli with Kaliyev

Brandt is a year younger and a PPG in the AHL. I don't think they'll regret keeping Clarke.

Clarke is great! But hard to see him ever catching Faber

A team with average goaltending (far below average without Woll), and an average defense that is also a combined 2-7 against Chicago, Buffalo, Ottawa, and Columbus is not better than a team that’s second in the league with an elite goalie, a better defense, and a deeper forward group. The Leafs have better top end forwards than the Canucks, that’s it
