So four teams….
1. McDavid + Celebrity
2. Matthews + Celebrity
3. NHL player + Celebrity
4. NHL player + Celebrity
So then….
Q1. who are the two other NHLers?
Nathan MacKinnon
Sidney Crosby
David Pastrnak
(maybe brother combos….Tkachuks, Hughes)
Q2. who are the celebrities?
Justin Bieber
Will Arnett
Will Ferrell
The Duchess of Sussex (Megan Markell)
Jon Hamm
Drake
Paul Bissonette
Ryan Reynolds
Snoop Dogg
Marshawn Lynch
Patrick Warburton (“Puddy”)
Shaquille O’Neill
Eli Manning
Jonas Brothers
I think they could make some interesting pairings. There will likely be heavy Toronto or Ontario theme, so I’d would guess some of their celebrity fans (Beiber, Arnett, etc)…with good dose of comedy (Ferrell)
Should be fun.
Praying it won't be any of the biebers/drake/jonases/etc but knowing Bettman it'll probably be those bieber boys...hopefully it'll be Snoop/Shaq/Ryan Reynolds/Jim Cuddy anyone but the biebers...
Elliott Friedman just reported that Leafs are closing in on an 8-year/$11.5M extension with Nylander. WOW
Treliving working his magic again he'll find a way to keep all the big names somehow...maybe find a loophole like in baseball Ohtani not being paid until end of contract so team can have money to pay teammates...

How the NHL does it = Frontloading. Its the same cap hit but the majority of the money is paid early via bonuses
There is no way to do an Othani style deal where the cap hit is barely anything till the end

There isn't even cap space in baseball is there? Doesn't really matter how they structure the contract, the AAV is still going to be 11.5 a year.

In MLB there is no cap but a luxury tax on teams that spend over a certain limit so they can spend all they want but the more they spend they get taxed more so it gets expensive fast...but at least the rich teams can spend more if they want and the teams that spend the most haven't won the world series yet...
As for Toronto I'm not sure who Treliving will move to make room or who has to make less to fit then all in but it'll interesting to see if he can do it and how...the fact that he willing to pay Nylander shows that he does have a plan...
