Calgary a No Go

Created by: Rajvinder
Team: 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 1, 2023
Published: Dec. 1, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I wouldn't pay a premium just cause their GM is mad at Tre. Honestly it's pathetic that they took less just to not deal with Tre. It's really their loss, seems Zadorov wants to be in Toronto so maybe we'll just get him and some other former Flames as UFAs.
Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Cole, Ian
  2. Höglander, Nils
Additional Details:
Vancouver gets a RHD which they could use post Zadorov trade and a F who can put up 60 points on the right line. (If Miller/Petty goes down they have no backup right now).
VAN
  1. Domi, Max
  2. Timmins, Conor
Additional Details:
Toronto gets a good winger to play their 3/4LW and a 3rd pair D.
2.
TOR
  1. Borgen, William
Additional Details:
Seattle gets some scoring help.
SEA
  1. Robertson, Nicholas
Additional Details:
Leafs get a defensive RHD.
3.
TOR
  1. Bouchard, Evan
Additional Details:
Edmonton gets a better defenseman and a Defensive forward both of which they really need.
EDM
  1. Kämpf, David
  2. Liljegren, Timothy
Additional Details:
Toronto gets a PP specialist to take those minutes from Rielly so he isn't play 30mins a night.

Would rather have Hoglander over Domi and would much rather have Cole over Timmins. Canucks pass easily

Has anyone said that Calgary took less because they don't want to deal with the ex-GM? They would rather the player in the same division (with an extension possible), than deal with another GM? I don't buy that.

From what I saw the Leafs needed retention and the Flames didn’t want to retain, so they traded him to Vancouver. Also saw the Canucks needed to add a 5th as inter division tax, so I assume Toronto was offering a 3rd as well

I'd pass as a Canucks fan but it's a pretty fair deal. Not offensive by any means.

Yeah that's exactly how I saw it. Leafs definitely needed retention if they wanted to do more, which they definitely do. Zadorov is not enough. For the Flames it made zero sense to retain, they potentially have 3 others were it would make more sense to fulfill the full slots.

Domi wouldn't even see the ice in Vancouver. Tocchet is all about the details and Domi just has none of that to his game. Cole is by far the best FA signing of the summer for Vancouver. ZERO chance he is traded, especially for what amounts to nothing.

Yup.... Pretty funny thinking a 3rd line player and a almost 25 year old AHL/NHL career tweener gets you the Oilers number 1 D.

Canucks decline. They aren’t giving up two players they have a use for to get two players they don’t have a use for.

Oilers trade is roughly equivalent to Toronto trading Reilly for Janmark and Broberg.
You taking that deal on Toronto's end?
