Full Deadline Sell Off

Created by: TMLBRIAN
Team: 2023-24 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 18, 2023
Published: Dec. 18, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
EK at 5m cap hit would be extremely valuable. Maybe remove the 2nd round pick?
Crosby to Colorado seems like a perfect fit.
Malkin to Washington seems like a perfect fit.
Guentzel to any competitor at the deadline. He should get a very nice package.

They would look at trading Letang in the offseason once Guentzel retention comes off. I don't see Letang being traded at 5 more years at 6.1m. I think 50% retention would be needed.

This scenario sets up Pits quite nicely for the future.

Thoughts? Who says no?

Canucks aren’t doing that. Karlsson isn’t the type of dman we need, especially if that’s the cost

Good start, but also should look to trade Pettersson, Rust, Smith, Rakell and Letang and Carter too if someone wants him.

Carter and Rakell are immovable in my mind. I think Letang would need to be retained for him to be moved (so it would need to be in the off season since all 3 slots are used here).

Pettersson can be moved easily for sure.

Rust and Smith would be hard to move in season based on their cap hits. But possible! If they can, they should.

Malkin is wildly overvalued. He’s 37 right now.

Setting aside whether this is a good idea or not (leaning towards definitely no), the Sharks would love this because your pick this year would not transfer (top 10 protected).

That would leave us with your unprotected 2025 1st round pick, which could be a high lottery pick with this type of a roster tear down.

No way in hell the Canucks are giving up 3+ 1sts for a Karlsson that won't be on their PP1

Maybe there is a time machine secretly involved in the trade.

Avs reject, though Pens probably do as well unless Sid wants the move.

Love Sid and all but that’s a package that returns a Sid in his early 30’s with lots of term. That’s an easy no from COL.

It's close but trading Byram.....I dunno. If it had been Girard (had the PAP thing not occurred) then I'd have said yes and that's only the cap implications that make me say Girard.

That too. I don't really know POJ's value but remove him and the 4th from PIT's side and Byram from the Avs side and add in something else from the Avs. Probably Gulyayev and look for some retention.

For real dude!

except for the fact that the 3 players who have played together longer than any trio in North American sports history have recently signed extensions and stated a desire to finish their careers together in Pittsburgh and have No-trade clauses and possess large contracts.........pause to take a deep breath......... (cue sarcasm) yeah this makes total and complete sense, trade them all lol tears of joy

I literally didn't even read the trades, I just the idiotic suggestion that Pittsburgh trade a Bunch of guys that literally are not going anywhere anytime soon emphasis soon... (caveat--maybe Sid at 40 plays a season elsewhere) and immediately was disgusted more than Dubas watching us get whooped 7-0... touchdown leafs!
