LA because the difference between Fiala and Marner is not Brandt Clarke. Hell not sure id even do that without Clarke considering Marner is about to be paid 12-13 mill in 2 years and Fiala is signed for under 8

The Leafs will say no.
Why would they trade Mitch Marner?
The Leafs will be unsuccessful without him, in my opinion.

You self admit that Marner is likely to get $12-13M and that Fiala is making under $8M but still think the gap isn’t that big? Stop hating on the Leafs and realize that Marner is a top 10 player in the league.

Let’s be real if Marner was signed at 6-7 mill now he’d get max 10. But his last overpayment sets him up for a raise

He makes a 1.4 million more than Kucherov he's a bit overpaid. Some idiot is going to compound that mistake . Is he a great player yes but if you want to win you can't be too top heavy .

What a player is paid, doesn’t determine how good he is. Marner is a consistent 90-100 point offensive player that’s also an elite defensive player. Plays in all situations and is a leader on the team - you don’t find those players easily. He’s a top 10 in the league and paid accordingly

Great point brainiac, except 6 teams have won cups since Marner entered the league, so 26 “unsuccessful” teams including canuckles. By your logic - all your players are overpaid too?

Surely LA would decline right @OldNYIFan? I think you're a Kings fan, has Fiala been this bad where Clarke makes up the difference?

LA says no to this 10/10 times.

Marner is good no one is doubting that, however the amount of money he’s going to want would set the Kings back too far that they wouldn’t be able to come back from within the first 3-5yrs of the deal. Kings are all set in all positions of their line up except in net so that’s the only position they would be looking to alter in anyway.

Fiala has been extremely good offensively -- he's replaced Viktor Arvidsson on the line with Phillip Danault and Trevor Moore -- and he's been reasonable defensively but he still takes too many stupid penalties.

So only the Cup champs are successful IYO? So, the Islanders Back to back Conference final wasn't success Dallas or Nashville being Western conference champs isn't success. I personally think a conference final or multiple conference final appearances is successful. 1 2nd round game win in 7 years not so much.

You are entitled to think what you want; no parades for conf finals (of course no parades for Tampa cups either because no one really cared 🤷🏻) so no, I don’t consider that success.

Is Marner a great player yes is he worth 12-13 million if someone is willing to pay him that yes I guess, however I'd much rather have Kucherov and 1.4 million in cap space that's Nick Perbix + is Marner better than Kucherov? No IMO I'll take the guy with 3 100point seasons and 2 playoffs with 30+ points and 2 more 20+ point playoffs especially making 1.4 million less . Kucherov has 2 rings .

Way to have tunnel vision and just look at what you see on paper.
You can’t use the argument of Kucherov having 2 rings and say that’s why he’s better - winning is a team thing and you can’t say Marner doesn’t help his team win. There’s so many other factors that make up winning a cup so that’s a really lame argument.
You also can’t really use Kucherov’s cap hit as a good explanation because everyone knows that if he signed the same deal somewhere else, he’d have signed for around the same amount that Marner makes. But Tampa Bay has a massive advantage when it comes to taxes. They can offer a lower AAV because the player will take home more money - Marner pays a little more than $1.8M more in taxes in Toronto than he would in Florida. So there’s the difference in money.

No that wasn't the only argument that's the cherry on top. And Toronto has a massive advantage in being able to arrange commercial endorsements that can more than make up that difference they tried using that on Stamkos when they brought the CEO of Canadian Tire in to explain just how much more he could make being a product wh*** in Toronto so stop with the bull**** tax thing.

It’s not a bull**** tax thing when it’s true. Sure endorsements help, but not all players want extra endorsements. But every player has to pay taxes so saving money on that area is a huge advantage. If you can’t admit that then you’re just being stubborn.
